I found a Red-tailed Hawk this morning with a broken leg. It had probably been hit by a car overnight. I could only get about 20 ft from it & it would get so worked up I was afraid it would do further damage to itself. I happen to know the Game Warden for the county so I called him. He came & met me at the site. As we tried to net the bird it could still get up & fly but only for about 20-30 ft. When it got tired we finally managed to throw a net over it, & he was going to take it to an aviary rehab place to see if they could save it.

Good work and hat, HJ. One of my favorite birds. There's one that hunts around here regularly.

I don't know if it can be saved or not. The Game Warden felt the same way. That leg was just hanging. We both thought it might have hit a windshield. The hawk was getting pretty weak.

It obviously didn't have a broken wing because it could still fly for a short distance. It had trouble getting off the ground in the tall grass. No way to know if it had any internal injuries & I have no idea what they can do for the leg.

Is this from the past couple days? Pity the forest fire smoke is affecting the fabulous view. One of our most beautiful natural wonders in Oregon. Welcome!

It was two weeks ago and there was a LOT of smoke even then. We love Oregon!

Visited the state museum, which opened on 31OCT1941, inside the original Carson City Coin Mint building, from 1870. photos taken by my wife, I'm wearing a c.1930s Stetson

majority of photos were taken inside the mine exhibit, which is actually underground. Really laid out well, and captures the mood perfectly. She didnt take a photo of each exhibit and display as her phone finally died in the taxidermy area
