Jeff, did you go out to the Crazyhorse site? What's the status on the work there? I no longer get the newsletter but I haven't made a donation in a couple of yrs either.

No hands of aces & eights on Hickok's grave?

You bet, HJ! I always make a point to go to Crazy Horse when I'm able. I've done a good bit of work there as a composer/performer with the South Dakota symphony's Lakota Music Project, so it is a pretty important place for me. Happy to tell you more about it if you're interested. I believe I'll be back there on Native Americans Day this fall. Progress is slow since the Korzcak family (rightfully) continues to refuse any government money and depends entirely on donations, and proceeds from tourists.

...And definitely aces and eights on the grave, along with lots of whiskey!

The hats are spectacular as always, Jeff! But, your compositions are also ALWAYS the best, sir. The hats, people, scenery, handsome dog, ALL perfectly stylized!!

I like it there also...very special. I've been there several times & have supported their project. Was invited to that dinner & midnight blast they had a few yrs ago but didn't go. Always enjoy the ride over to Gillette, WY and Devils Tower also. The weather can turn freaky though. When is Native American's Day & is that just state or across all tribes? And I would enjoy hearing more about the music project.

Great series Jeff. I fail to use my hats in photo composition, you are an inspiration!

Took a ride up into northeast Alabama this weekend, to the little town of Fyffe, for their annual UFO festival. I didn't see any black helicopters or mutilated cows like they had back in the 80s, but I did see an alien carved out of an old golf ball and ate some pretty out of this world fried pies. Afterward we drove downt to High Falls, hoping to maybe cool off with a little swim but the park was closing and the ranger ran us out, but not before I could snap a few photos. Then we took a nice ride through the mountains over to Noccalula Falls, where legend has it the princess Noccalula wasn't too keen on the husband her father had picked out for her, so she threw herself over the waterfall. A tasty burger as the sun set at the Big Chief drive-in down in Glencoe finished off the evening before heading back to the big city.

Great shots, cuz. Lived in Gadsden during some of my youth and have made a number of trips to the falls. Good to see them again. Thanks for posting.

I thought I remembered you telling me you'd lived there before. I should have gone up to see the falls earlier in the summer when it was raining so much.
