Last weekends folly.... daughter and I went SCUBA diving in the Atlanta Aquarium with the Whale sharks and Mantas: 6.2 million gallon fish bowl, the size of a US football field, and 30' deep. The whale sharks eat plankton and are young at 25' - they grow to 40'. It was like swimming at the Greyhound bus station - they're big!

Proof I was there... me, 6th from right, and my daughter 5th from right.

Best picture... my grand-daughter looking at her mother (my daughter) through 2 feet of acrylic. The window was 64' X 20'. ...and I even got a PADI certificate for my 45" dive. (PADI is a diver certifying organization that has monetized everything).

Early Sunday afternoon a 1981 Cessna 414A broke apart shortly after takeoff and crashed in a neighborhood in Yorba Linda, California. The pilot and four people on the ground were killed, and two others were hospitalized. NTSB investigators are still combing the "four block" debris field for physical evidence, conducting interviews, and attempting to locate any video footage that might help explain the incident. This is the house in which the four people, a family who had gathered to watch the Super Bowl, were killed:

Details are still being released, but this was apparently caused by burning debris falling onto the house and breaking through the roof, after which neighbors reported hearing and seeing some "small explosions" in conjunction with the fire, all of which prevented them from making any rescue efforts.

The fuselage of the plane came to rest in the back yard of a house on an adjacent street just north of the house(s) in the photo above:

Why am I mentioning this in the Families of the Lounge thread? Because the house on the right in the second photo (the one with the "black and white" roof) belongs to my wife's sister and her husband. They were home at the time, and told us it took them a few moments to piece together what had happened. Because they live in a rather "hilly" area they couldn't immediately see the fuselage in their neighbor's back yard because that yard is higher than theirs and a fence between the two blocked their view. It was when they found what they described as "a small piece of debris" on their back yard patio and saw the smoke rising from the burning house (which is/was only 100 yards away from theirs) that they realized this wasn't a "minor" incident. They knew the couple who owned the house that had been destroyed--not well, but well enough--and were saddened to learn they had died.

File this under the heading "too close for comfort", but for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law it could have been far worse.

View attachment 156622 View attachment 156623 This sweet girlie is 9! She is obsessed with llamas, so of course Mama made her a llama cake to celebrate her day. (This also means I am a year older as well... my birthday is a week before hers.)

We went out dancing to a favorite band last night, and a friend snapped this of us dancing. My heart!
Happy birthdays to both of y'all! She's getting so big.

My cousin, and all around great guy! The Chickasaw Nation is releasing a series, highlighting inspirational Chickasaw citizens. He was interviewed about his service in the United States Marine Corps, in Viet Nam. I am very much looking forward to seeing it. I am very proud of him! He looks a little older now.
