This year's State Fair entries made by yours truly. All four received blue ribbons, the big green and the small blue won Best of Class for their respective categories. :)

Lily also entered the State Fair for the first time with a needlepoint piece. She won a blue ribbon for her hard work! View attachment 183062
Congratulations! You have both done beautiful work! The photos look like crochet, and it looks amazing! Lilly's heart in the flag says it all for me! Thanks for posting this!

Good eye! Yes, it is crochet. The green one took me about 48 hours to make. Time consuming, but worth it!

I was also able to put one of my grannie's doilies on display (not judged). As far as I can tell, she made it around 1950. I received it when she passed several years ago. She is the one who taught me to crochet many, many years ago. I have her crochet hooks, and used one to make my Fair entries. Lily will get the hooks one day.

My sister is very good at crochet, she learned from our aunt. I have always admired it. Even now I like doilies on all of our tables. Good to see these skills being passed on. Some of the most beautiful work I have seen!

Okay. This is even more bonkers. Went to pick up the entries at the fairgrounds today. Besides receiving a perfect score, blue ribbon (first place), and Best of Class, the big green doily won Grand Champion (Best of Show) of the entire doily competition!!!! And.... it won the Viewer's Choice award. Holy moly!!

First day of fourth grade! She is excited for the year ahead. Her school has orchestra/band for fourth graders. She has the opportunity to do safety patrol (help kids out of cars at drop off) once she turns 10 in February. They also have "peace coaches" who help other students solve minor playground issues, which she has wanted to do for three years. And her school sends all fourth graders to swim lessons at the local high school pool. Very eventful year!

Congratulations ! Very nice work.

It's cool that you have one that your Grandmother made in the 50's, and can pass it down.

My grandson Sam getting ready to head out with me to work. He's holding his great-great grandfather's lunch pail from the 1920s. I wonder how many times his great-great grandfather sat on those very same steps prior to leaving for work.

I Love This !!

I am an absolute sucker for nostalgia like this.

Sam fits in that photo so well with the surroundings too, love the lunch pail. Great photo !!

Spent Thanksgiving with what's left of my family. My 84 year old uncle broke out my grandfather's 1947 Ford 8N tractor with custom built kid carrying attachment and spent the day hauling my children around the farm. I've got a lot to be thankful for, including my friends here on the FL. I hope all the rest of you have plenty to be thankful for today, too, whether you celebrated the holiday or not.
