So true.
When I drive to the Gulf Coast, I
take the route that goes through the small towns stopping along the way for a meal on the side road or shop the antique stores.
What takes some a couple of hours,
takes me most of the day enjoying
and sharing with others.

My Uncle George in England (he lives in Hants), 83 now and a huge railway buff. Two pics he sent over, in his own words:

"That is me on the footplate of Battle of Britain class loco
92 Squadron. Margaret treated me to a driving experience at the Nene Valley Railway. We had theory before getting togged up in overalls etc. I drove the
loco and also did some fireman's duties including shovelling coal into a
huge firebox. Very hot work. Had a sooty face at the end. Quite an
experience. The loco was built in 1948 and used to travel past our top floor
flat in Folkestone before we moved to James St. "

I think it's mostly her eyes combined with that smile, but she sure bears a resemblance to you in this photo.
