That has always been his knock, he is a really good guy and he has made some ok hats, but his "guarantees" to have things delivered have caused some friction, and his wait times are always very long.

Everyone that buys a hat from Parker is given the expectation that it will be a long wait. Sure, you could buy another hat and get it delivered while waiting for Parker's hat, but in the end, Parker will make a great hat. And as everyone has enthusiastically expressed, his hats are worth the wait.

After reading all the Sherlock Holmes hat threads, i found the link to the falcon park hattery and his new "Holmes Fedora" replica from the Robert Downey jr. Version of Sherlock.
Curious if anyone has one, i would love to see photos, am in process of ordering.

I almost love the long wait. Love the work he does. A hat he was rebuilding is in the Mail right now--one that I had forgotten about--It's almost like Christmas all over!!!

I've seen the complaints and biting my tongue because I know he's got a day job and yet I still place orders with him... I have two jobs so I know how it goes. But, I haven't had a single order shipped out when he has promised. My latest restoration has been promised in a couple of missed shipments now. I'm getting a touch irritated, but trying to remain patient. I hope he checks in here every now and again and sees that his customers are getting a little upset; maybe it will help bring about some change.

I've been to his house twice last year. He has dozens of hats sent for repairs from all over the world , plus all the custom orders. He does have a full time job, plus a family. Yes...he does get behind and he knows it. I also wanted my order finished within a reasonable time frame, but until I viewed what he was up against and being a one man operation, it was fine that it was longer than he quoted. I love my hat and would do it again. Great guy...just needs more free time to work on his creations.

Chicago, I understand all of this but if you are going to "guarantee" a time and take the money IN FULL before you ever work on the hat then you should deliver. All other custom hatters take a down payment

I never got around to posting my previous hat from Parker.

It's black cherry with wine ribbon.

I'm currently waiting on my 3rd hat.
It will be silver belly with a 24 ligne navy ribbon and a 2 1/4 or 2 3/8" raw brim.

Parker told my he would try and complete the hat within 4 months but based on my two previous purchases I'm guessing it will be 6 months. Both of them was ETA + 50% = actual time

DOH! I forgot to mention the specs of the black cherry!

5 3/4 open crown
24 ligne ribbon?( Measures 2 1/8" )
2" underwelt brim

The hat is inspired by Depp's hat from Public Enemies but I think it looks more Cagney than Depp, and that's a good thing!
