The jacket is really cool! The colour combination works very well. I agree with others that it's too short though. It would massively improve with one or two inches more overall.

That's not just short / cropped , that's matador jacket level cropped!
One of the most unique and memorable jackets I've ever seen.
In contrast to most Himel jackets that didn't look too special to me at all. THIS is what I would expect from a "bespoke" Himel jacket.
Love it, 10/10.
The body length is totally subjective, if you like it - nothing else matters. Hopefully you don't regret going THAT short several years down the line, but that can be said about various aspects we choose for custom orders.
I would totally support/approve of getting a pair of matching pants for a full matador look!

I like the fit and the hemline, and cool color combo, I'm not sure about pelt texture with fur on the body panel personally but the color you choose is almost like it could have been canvas or wool or any other material, it doesn't have that fur shine like dark or black fur, which is too animalistic to my sense. congrats!

Totally fair. Hair on hide is not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. And yes I do prefer the lack of shine on the fur here which does make it a bit more subtle.

My first himel was in this leather. It's really fantastic. The second or third day I had it, I walked past a house that was getting the roof painted, micro paint drops all over it. Luckily they all cleaned off with some friction.

Glad you were able to save it! All three of my Himel jackets have been in this leather. There's just something about it that I absolutely adore.

the jacket is a piece of art. it's only too short if it feels too short on you. if you like it, then it's perfect.

I don't think I would say Dandy. That may be an insult to actual Dandies who are much more into tailoring. Whatever the casual version of Dandy is, I'll tale that though! my inspiration was shorter western jackets and Mexican Charro suits- again, very western. So maybe it's the western version of Dandy.

Ive also never gotten this jacket out of my head since i first watched 3:10 to Yuma

Western films, and specifically this character and jacket are what got me to really think and care about style. Obviously it's not the same jacket, but it is quite cropped and in some ways is more flashy than mine!

This is a very nice jacket with an individual touch in a pretty color combo. I hope the liner lasts longer than it did on one of my Jackets. Even on my current jacket, a Peregrine with a flannel liner, there was already wear and tear on the hem after a short period of wear because the lining was not sewn properly there. The seam defects, as can be seen on the photo of the backside, also give this jacket its individual, HB “antique” look.

Thanks! I went for something extreme and Himel nailed it which even if you don't like the jacket, is worth appreciating. I don't think I'd regret it, but hey, you never know. I've regretted making custom jackets too long in the past.

Thank you! Yes I think it fits in well with my style. It certainly isn't too short for most of my jeans, chinos, and trousers even if people don't like the look overall.

I don't confine myself to only short jackets. I'm sure you saw that already with my recent Sears Topline. I also have several other jackets that are much longer than the Himel and Buco that I have no intention of selling.

Also, you're cherry picking with those photos. The Vanson photo has the jacket unzipped and I'm leaning on a wall, both of which make me look more relaxed.

I'm not saying you're wrong to prefer more length in a jacket, but I actually feel more relaxed in shorter jackets because it's much easier to put my hands in my pockets.

Again, I'm not saying it's wrong to prefer the length of the Vanson. I much prefer the Buco length, but I do like more length on other styles of jacket and I still love the Vanson itself. I just don't think those images were the best to compare.

As @Marc mndt correctly mentioned, the longer jackets fit your body type better, it just looks more balanced. The Buco J22 is an MC jacket and that's how it was cut, short and above the belt line in order to have a comfortable sitting position on a motorcycle without the neck sticking up. For a MC jacket perfect for a general fit... hmmm. However, the new HB is not an MC jacket and is therefore visually too short. But the most important thing is if you are personally satisfied with the jacket everything is perfect. In addition, with this jacket you have just launched a new Trend: The "Bolero style".

Totally fair. I don't see it as a normal jacket at all and therefore don't see it as odd to make it short like an MC jacket. That said, I get that not everyone will like it. I understand that if I took a standard halfbelt and made it this short, it would be weird. Maybe this is weird top, but it's a weirder jacket in general and therefore I took more liberty with it.

Dude Jake, sorry for OoT but I'm just curious why do you wear belt with rhinestone decoration but with the buckle worn on the side? is it visually better or for any particular reason or functional reason? I see biker often do this but they wear plain belt probably so the buckle of the MC jacket don't get stacked over the buckle of their pants when seated (avoiding double buckles situation) or perhaps to not scratch the fuel tank paint by the needle of the buckle, or perhaps so they can bend their waist more, hugging the bike more without buckle digging into their tummy flesh. but in your case I wonder since your belt is decorated and the decoration looks slightly off center as well

Not entirely sure the reason, but belts were worn this way in the US from the 30-50s. Seen from farmers to bikers in the 50s.

A few thoughts from me:

1. The jacket is goregeous. Never seen one like it, the colour is amazing and it all around looks great

2. The length would be 2-3 inches too short for me, but you are not me. Your style and outfits are very different from what I wear, and all together you make the length work, and if you enjoy it at the length that's all that matter. However, I think the jeans you are pairing with, do not complement the jacket the best (the overall weight of the top half of your outfit is a lot less than the bottom half). I think this would look better with one of the jeans you wore with your buco or the vanson

3. I am curious to hear how the white fur holds up. Is it something that will get dirty / stained super easily or is this like roughout in that wear and tear looks great (though the roughout which usually looks good with age is white / black / brown).

perhaps so if the belt is too long they don't need the tip fastener, so the tip of the belt is secured into the rear belt loop, and not dangling on the front perhaps.

I do it because I've seen many pictures of guys from back in the 30s-50s doing it. Turns out they did it for several reasons: partly to avoid scratching car fenders, the backs of guitars, and to avoid poking their stomachs when lifting things.

Are you talking about the white jeans or the blue jeans? The white jeans are a bit slimmer, but the blue jeans I shared are the same jeans I'm wearing with the Himel.

But I get your point about weights of top and bottom half.

Yeah the fur could stain a bit, but its an off white and not pure white which should help. The jacket will ovviously age over time so as long as i dont spill a bottle of ink on it, i should hopefully be ok

Thank you! Really appreciate that. It's definitely a jacket that makes me feel confident and I need that in order to wear it. Without doubt it's not a jacket to look meek in while wearing!

I have to do this by necessity. I had my belts shortened from when i was 2-3 sizes larger so they are super long, if I wear it normally the belt end sticks out the sides and often gets caught on my jacket. Putting it one belt loop over allows me to tuck it just enough to reach the next belt loop.

Takes a little getting used to when removing the belt to use the restroom though lol
