I dig it. It is a distinctive cut, but I'm a fan of high waists on jeans and jackets. Coats are another story, if you get the differentiation. It might be a little limiting if it were someones only jacket, but with dudes' collection, it's nice having options, and Dave really managed to make it work without looking like a franken-mod. Too bad Cali isn't an open-carry state. A Tom Mix style holster and nickel Winchester would look sweet with it.

I agree with what Marc wrote. The color combo and materials are superb! It does have a cool western vibe. The fit to my eye is just too short. I’m surprised to hear myself say that because I was encouraging you to go much shorter and I think you have with great success. But to me this looks 2” too short, even with the mega high rise jeans. I’d personally want a more significant front drop, even if the back length were left alone.
Totally fair. I dig it, but I know that it's a bit extreme. I don't think I would have gone this short if it were my only jacket, but given that it'd certainly not and I have other jackets of various lengths, I went all out and went short. I also just really like the proportions of shorter jackets in general. I totally get that it's not for everyone though.
eye catching for sure.. you wont be unnoticed in too many places.
"knowing you" here on TFL this jacket is very consistent with your personal style, and I get it 100%. not sure it will translate in other places.
that said, its you, its your jacket, you like it. enjoy it
Yeah ill be curious to see how people like it in the real world. I've gotten a couple compliments already, but we'll see what normal people think of it as time goes on. Either way, I'm thrilled.
I absolutely agree.
OD green does as well, but maybe not quite as universally appropriate as this.
Yeah thats pretty versatile, but I think ecru tops everything personally.

Jacket looks amazing but I agree it looks too short, and I prefer shorter jackets. The hem is at elbow level.
The hem is below the elbow. It's hard to tell as the creases haven't set in yet, but it's below the elbow. Of course it's totally fair to think it's too short. I know not everyone will dig this.

Haha yeah that would look cool if I could get away with it. And yes if this were my only jacket it might be extreme, but I have two other lighter/mid brown jackets that are longer and more versatile. I don't need another "standard " jacket. I wanted a show stopper, statement piece and I got that.

Your jacket has a little bit of an “Ike” jacket cut and vibe to it. Very dramatic! General Eisenhower and General Patton certainly wore the cropped, waist length jackets well. Wear your jacket in good health my friend.

Bolero.

I like the back length but I think it would look good with front drop.

this length looks excellent on you too.

As a short guy I think you pull off better looks than denim dentist who always look like he's compensating lol.

Also good choice on the leather...its himels best leather imo.

Himel Bros has had an interesting history on this forum. My personal experiences have all been quite positive and I wanted to share that on here. My favorite jacket from several years ago was my custom Himel Grizzly.

I got heavy into Freewheelers jackets for a while and lately ive mainly been into vintage leather (and wool) jackets. I havent ordered a new jacket in a while and i have tried to order a custom jacket a couple times in the past few years, but dropped out of all for various reasons.

I really wanted another grizzly and another mtm jacket that would fit as nicely as my Buco J-22 does. I went back to Himel because he gave me my previous best experience.

Well, the new custom Wolverine jacket arrived and to say that I am happy would be an understatement!

I was not an easy customer, sending in my own cow fur, going with a different pocket layout and adding buttons to the grizzly model. Most difficult was fitting my measurements.

Not only do I have a far from normal body type, but I wear quite high rise jeans and trousers and need a short body length. It took some time, but Dave and his team really nailed the job of completely modifying the pattern to my body. I really don't think this jacket could fit any better. The jacket isn't as tapered as my J-22, but it really shouldn't be. This type of jacket should have a bit more room and it does.

It's comfortable and looks exactly as I wanted it to. Not everyone is going to like how this jacket looks, but it was custom. I can guarantee there's nothing else like this jacket out there.

It gives me a very western vibe IMO. I feel like it could look as comfortable in a western film as it would in a 1930s outfit or just with jeans and a t shirt here.

Really like the length. My thoughts, if you go custom, why not do something that you won't be able to find either off the rack or vintage. The crop fit is perfect! I think you have some pants with a higher rise than the jeans you're wearing here which I think will match this jacket very nicely.

Love it! not that big of a "grizzly" fan, but the short hair of that cow looks amazing Jake :)
Dave really got it right with that one!

Cheers

I think it looks great on you. It’s a statement but you are pulling it off. Very unique look.
Thank you! I definitely wanted something unique. I knew what I was going for and this is exactly it.

Old military clothing, vintage motorycle jackets such as my J-22, and Charro suits are all examples of short men's jackets that I think look incredible. I think a lot of people are a little too afraid of going shorter with their jackets, but I'm obviously biased. Thanks for the photo!

It actually has a decent front drop. I didn't ask Dave to change anything about the front drop. Thanks very much for the feedback!

Thank you! That was my way of thinking as well. I do have other longer and more "standard" length jackets that I believe fit me very well. This is something both design and fit-wise that I just cannot get anywhere else. I definitely have plenty of jeans and trousers that have a high enough rise for this jacket so it will fit quite well into my wardrobe.

My style already isn't for everyone. I may as well go all out and get exactly what I want.

I like the fit and the hemline, and cool color combo, I'm not sure about pelt texture with fur on the body panel personally but the color you choose is almost like it could have been canvas or wool or any other material, it doesn't have that fur shine like dark or black fur, which is too animalistic to my sense. congrats!

My first himel was in this leather. It's really fantastic. The second or third day I had it, I walked past a house that was getting the roof painted, micro paint drops all over it. Luckily they all cleaned off with some friction.

This is a very nice jacket with an individual touch in a pretty color combo. I hope the liner lasts longer than it did on one of my Jackets. Even on my current jacket, a Peregrine with a flannel liner, there was already wear and tear on the hem after a short period of wear because the lining was not sewn properly there. The seam defects, as can be seen on the photo of the backside, also give this jacket its individual, HB “antique” look.
