Naughty?? :p
I stayed over at my mother's house in Phoenix, nothing that exciting, trust me ;)

Sorry about that.... :( The sink I wanted was bid on and won when I was asleep

What do you sell??

Hmmmm.... that sink you wanted got 15 bids. So did the watch! I sell mainly books. I also inheirited a HUGE stock of Snoopy pins so I've been listing those as well. Surprisingly a couple of them ended up selling for $100 each.

Yeah.... I wonder who bought them on here.....

That must have been close to where you live for a "pick up" for winning bidder? There are perhaps some shops around my place that would have something like that, but to ship to Arizona may cost a hefty fee.

Nope. I was going to have someone pick it up for me.

If you find one, let me know :)

She must have really wanted it if she's willing to make a roadtrip to Illinois after having already come from that general direction recently. Well this is what I got outbid on.

This watch is nice, it hat to be "tapped" on it's side to make it run and would only run if not worn! So, I am having it serviced and anything else repaired so it will run perfect.

I will take a peek at a few places, and if they have one, I will snap a picture or two on my cell for you to view.

Yes, yes I did.... I'm really not happy about it, but I guess it wasn't meant to be *sigh*

One of my best "steals" as far as price goes for watches, is a winder seiko vintage watch, well it is an automatic sea king. The appearance of the watch would remind you of a vintage rado green horse 6 watch. For reasons unknown, there were very little bids on it, and I think my Wife bid and won for about $48.00. The watch looks brand new, no marks or scratches anywhere and is very clean for a watch from the 1950's, has a great brand new glossy black "CrocoGrain" strap on it, and it keeps very accurate time.

I myself prefer wrist watches that are on the larger size, the Kronatron watch is 40mm and the Seiko is 38mm sized case without the crown being measured into that figure.

My Rolex is still non functional, and I am not happy about the price I am quoted to have it fixed. I am still shopping for a repair place with a decent price on that.

No problem. We have about 6 or 7 shops local that deal with old vintage household fixtures sinks, toilets, tubs, vent and fireplace facings, hinges, mantels, doors, lighting, stained glass, etc., and one of them maybe would have something like that sink. I know (being a builder) what to look for condition wise, if I do find one. The seal area on the drain is critical. What hardware may come with it, (faucet) is really secondary but if they have something nice and not off into orbit, I will let you know. Last year I needed to find some matching door hinges for a friend, the hinge was very fancy with engraving, black glassy metal. I found the hinges, and a door knob with a backplate around the knob area, that was about the nicest looking I have ever seen. The owner of the shop originally wanted $625.00 for all of it, I talked him down to $120.00.

That was the best thing about the sink... it had the faucet! I got the best deal on my last sink that was from 1951 for $75.

I appreciate you looking :)

$625 to $120?? Wow... you're one heck of a talker!

One thing anyone should always bring to a conversation with a seller of older goods, is that they may never know when something could sit and rot in their shop. Cash now, can make a deal come from most of them.

Oh I understand that, but facets are easier to find in my opinion, and I can almost bet that if I find a sink, they will try to sell the facets separate from it. But I also know how to deal that, as you see, those facets only go with that sink....and no sale without the facets included...I know...I will do some looking. Most places will be closed until the middle of the week, close on Mondays until Wednesdays, and the best place is only open on a Saturday as he has some really fancy items and sells to high end clients.

That is nice. My Wife has purchased several watches for me from eBay, one I will need to have serviced, it is a rare watch in some ways, made in Hong Kong in about 1948.

That is a sweet watch! Since I picked up my very first one for $15 at a militaria show several years ago I got hooked on collecting Russian watches. Generally most military watches are somewhat plain-looking but only the Soviets/Russians would boldly emblazon their timepieces with red stars and other national symbols like a Swatch watch! Which is part of their attraction to me -- that and most of them are mechanical.

I know what you mean, I have been peeking at some recently (or I should say my wife is).. The watch you had been bidding on was a really fantastic watch. I think you had already made mention to me before that most of the soviet watches are of a good quality. Once I expressed that information to her, she takes a peek at them and saves them on her ebay list for me to see if I would want it or not.

She actually just won a bid on a woman's vintage hamilton watch that was really a bargain about 3 weeks ago. Gold case, completely rebuilt and serviced by a watch repair guy in New York. For some reason, no one again was bidding on it, perhaps it being gold people may have thought the bidding would go up too much but, she got the watch for less than $200.00 and it would have been worth three times that even if the watch did not run. It has the dark blue sapphire small stone gems on the 12, 3, 6 , 9 positions. I thought it was an all out steal!

Many of the Russian watches are of course copies of Swiss movements. The one I was trying to bid on, a 1953 Molnija, is based on a 1930s or '40s Rolex movement.

If that is how they are made, it is little wonder it sold for as much as it did! I will have to ask my Wife to keep a look for those watches! Thanks!
