Yes, thank you, several of the illustrations were incorrectly archived, and originated in the September 1948 issue of Esquire, rather than 1946's.
It shows what happens when you pay up for a real illustrator for your ad - this looks as good as any of the other illustrations in the magazine. Yes, the coat looks outstanding, but the smaller details, like the football stadium and field in the background, are also very well done.

We talk about it regularly, but it is amazing at how prevalent herringbone was back then. Heck, sometime it seems as if half the suits and overcoats were herringbone. While that's an exaggeration, when you see a movie from the '30s-'50s, you almost can't miss running into at least one herringbone suit or overcoat.

Great stuff, thanks. I have love for all formal wear, my wife and I can’t wait to don our formal daywear for afternoon tea once Covid is no longer rearing its ugly head.
And, of course, few wear it better than Mr. Menjou.
We go out - we’re in NYC so we’ve done The Plaza and The Baccarat Hotel so far. The Russian Tea Room is next!
Most of this is still good advice today.

Quick note (because I think this should be predominantly about the pictures) to say thank you Flanderian, you are doing the Lord's work! I often wondered if these were compiled in one place-I needn't ask anymore! What a priceless resource.
