No, before my time, I'm afraid..... I didn't discover punk rock itself until I was fifteen..... in 1989.
The Sarno's were never into wild clothes or hair, looked quite normal really, a bit like Zoot Suiters. Herbert the lead singer would often come on in a night shirt or toga, the other members wearing something similar and often finished by taking the lot off and walking off stage naked. I do believe they originated the toga party thing on the 'Billy' scene.
I last saw them at the Rainbow, the former Finsbury Park Astoria before it closed. Apparently it is now a church.

Ah.... The Caezars did their last gig as a toag party back in October, that's interesting. Would love to have had a chance to see some of the psychobilly scene back in the day.

I think King Kurt were the biggest name back then. I never went to any psycho events then though I do remember the Meteors, Guana's, The Cramps. Restless and The Polecats were on the borderline of Rocka/Psycho as were the Stray Cats though King Kurt were the only group I saw on TV and apparently they threw slime everywhere at their live do's as well as on Top of the Pops.

I have been lucky enough in my youth to see The Cramps, The Meteors, Guanabatz, Restless, Demented Are Go, Sunglasses After Dark and King Kurt. With a few other minor leaguers thrown in. Still listen to them all from time to time but The Cramps remain firmly fixed in my top ten bands of all time. Lux going was a sad day for me!

As well. David Arnoff is a friend. His Mom was my dad's secretary for years. He did the covers/photos for the Cramps, inter alia! We listened to them a bunch on this last trip

I gather Aero are working on some bike boots, taking a pair of post-war German military bike boots (which differed from those worn during the war in part by the addition of a buckle at the top. The buckle became known as the "democracy buckle", which I think is cute) and developing them. Fleece lined. Could be interesting for the Winter if they cam civilianise them successfully: the originals are certainly very effective (I've considered a surplus pair for snow before now), but they're a bit..... Tonka Toy, if you follow me.

Do you mean these boots Edward?

I actually tried the brown in a seven when I was over last month, and if you're looking for an easy-to-wear biker boot that'll keep you toasty in winter, they are ideal: very comfortable and the shearling means there's little in the way of heel slip or friction. Wouldn't want to pull them on in June, mind, but they look great on.

As far as The Cramps go, I love their early stuff. They were obviously such hard livers in real life - Lux's face just spoke of a man who took his excesses as seriously as he did his music. Love the story about their first drummer 'auditioning' for the role by chucking a brick through a studio window. I like to imagine Lux opening the studio door to him, running a comb through his quiff and sneering "Yes, what do you want?".

Oh! Those are the ones - I hadn't seen they were out. They've done them nicely.... they look chunky, but much classier than a lot of the originals I've seen. I just wish they could add a buckle at the ankle, but I know that's not true to the originals. I'd definitely opt for a pair of these if I was gonig to get into long bike rides in Winter!

Saw the Cramps in Sydney back in 1995, twice. They were a sight and sound to behold live. Their emphasis on the jungle tom-tom beat provided a lot of inspiration when I wrote My Baby Looks Like Betty Page the same year. That, and I suspect a bit of subliminal inspiration from my early teen years soaking up everything Adam Ant released.

If I remember well you also own a pair of Jarrow Marchers Sloan? How do these boots compare sizewise to the Marchers?
I own a pair of Marches size 7.5 and fits perfectly. If I look at the sizing of the shearling lined boots though I see a size named 7/7.5 and the next one 8/8.5. Pretty confusing, I guess it has to do with the bigger tolerances due to the shearling.

I get the market ... but they're priced above Alt-Berg's and deep into Daytona territory ... with none of the protection or features of either of these :( ... for the bike I wear modern bike boots ( having had a V-Max land on my ankle and use it as a sandwich filling between it and the road at 30mph it's Daytona every time for me since that day )

I've got a couple of pairs of Frye engineers as "Jean Boots" ... anything above 11" and I struggle with calf width on std. boots including RW Pecos never mid Chippewa's which are made for matchstick legs. I also prefer the look and feel of Harness boots as opposed to engineers ... they just tend to feel more secure on my feet.

Agree. Except for the matchstick legs and Chippewa's!

I sized down on both to a seven, perfect fit on the Jarrow Marchers, so I reckon there's not much between them. As you say, the tolerances of the shearling mean that you've got a reasonable amount of wiggle room on them.
