Attractions Co. Steer hide. A real bitch to get on but oh so comfortable once they comply. Like a glove!

I know this isn't what you asked but I have Frye 12R and they are run a half size large.

On Black Friday I bought 3 pair of Fryes Artisanal boots from SAKSOFF5th. They ran a special for $165 a pair. I wear an 11 D and was undecided about ordering a size down (10 or 10 1/2) since I had heard they ran large. I ordered the 3 pairs ( one black and 2 brown) in size 11

Good thing I did becUse all 3 are true 11's.

The interesting thing is they all fit differently. The black ones right foot is tighter and very difficult to get on. But once on are fine. The 2 brown ones slip on easier and fit more comfy.

Actually I only wanted 2 pair but hit button for 3.

They are excellent quality and I'm very happy perhaps someone later will want a pair of brown ones and I'll let one go.

Oh, and these are the Americana special edition with strip on the shaft (the shorter 11" ones) and stars on top. Very understated and looks classy.

Wow, what an awesome list. There are a bunch I'd heard of but a bunch I'd never heard of too. Both Viberg and Dayton are relatively local and I have experience with both. Viberg quality is great but I find them way too wide around the instep. Dayton quality is lower but fit is better... except for their actual engineer boots. I also find them not as good in terms of attention to detail. However, they've always been willing to work with me to get what I ask for, which Viberg has taken a steep decline in. Interesting that many of the makes you've mentioned are based in Japan.

Appearance wise, I think I still like the profile of the Lofgrens the best. I'm seriously considering those and Attractions at this point but will need to save up. Probably smart as I've gotten different boots that just aren't what I want and end up selling them at a loss. I probably could have purchased a few pairs of Lofgrens by now if I had just gotten them in the first place. LOL!!

Again, thanks for the great list. Lots to explore. Here's the list in bullet form with links and a few more (for future reference). I can't seem to find the manufacturer's web site for some of these so if anyone had better links, please share.

How do I get one of each? haha

Do you know how to get in touch with Zip of santa rosa? I can't find any contact info on the website. Thanks Their boots are stock? or custom order?

Hi guys - I came across this website in my search for information and education about boots and such - what an incredible website - check out the FAQ to read just about anything you've ever wanted to know (and more):

https://www.boot.com/index.html

Sorry if this has been posted before - I tried to search for it but did not see it.

Whoda thunk that something as "simple" as boots could be so darned complex?
Cheers!

Yeah, I've bought three pairs of Wescos from there. Very good service.

I wonder if this thought has occurred in any engineer boots lover's mind, are all 1930-50s boots soft toed? were there any with structured toe box?

These look to be new? If they are in your place I'd be sending them straight back with that mess of the right heel stack. Please tell me at the $795 price tag evident in the pics you didn't receive these boots in this condition.
I was going to say the same thing. That is absolutely ATROCIOUS! I am so glad I did not go for a pair of these and got a third pair of Clinch instead.

Wesco 90th Anniversary chocolate brown - really beautiful finish but I wish they had the buckle straps. They are a bit tight - might have to take them for some stretching torture at the local cobbler:

Thinking about a pair of Red Wing 2990's. Any fit recommendations? An online search indicates many go down a 1/2 size, and just as many went with their normal size.
Thx
