I like them. I’ve gone through two other boss boots that were made in Horween Horsehide but the fit wasn’t right on them due to my own fault. Chris knows his stuff in sizing. I should have done E width on my MP toe Horsehide the first time. Had the first Horsehide mp toe stretched to E width from D and the fit wasn’t right as I was new to being fitted for footwear. Very expensive mistake.

I love the shape of these. Never seen a pair in that distinctive colour before - reminds me of a Fender Fiesta Red. I get the impression Red Wing (and others) do a wider range of colours and options in the Far Eastern markets primarily, which are perhaps a touch less conservative in their preferences than the boot market can often be in the West? These look similar in shape to my 2268s. I quite fancy the idea of a pair in a sort of teacore finish, with a black top layer and something like this red hue underneath.

Red Wing calls it Oro Russo and is not limited to Far East. The Eat Dust Red Wing collab Pecos is also in this color. They also make Moc Toe in this color. This particular model i.e. Oro Russo Engineer is Japan exclusive though.

That Russet is nice. I suspect polishing it with a brown polish a shade or two darker would result in a really nice patina over time.

Yes. Might have read about him on FL a while ago or somewhere, only lace up back then no engineer boots. The toe profile of his lace up is straight down like a cliff. Looks weird to me.
The engineers' soft toe looks much better but the heel counter looks too big/tall. And the extra narrow toe track. I don't know. Just kind of off. If I am looking for one in this style, I would probably go back to Role Club.
However, I normally avoid custom order especially from one man shop (same reason why I never went for a Role Club or Benzein or FlamePanda etc). Personal thing though.

Any reason why you avoid one man shop custom ordering?

1) cannot try them on. You need to trust that he/she will get them right in one try which IMO is rare. My experience with bespoke suit is there is a learning curve with each tailor.
2) No formal production schedule. One man shop usually cannot provide exact production date. When they get a new project or big order, your individual order get bumped down the queue.
IMO, it may take a very long time and lots of unanswered email then with all sorts of reasons for delay (normally excuses to cover the real reason which is simply you are low priority seeing your individual order is to cover the day to day to keep him/her busy while he/she wait for a big order from dealer or collaboration project). By the time you receive the goods, you might have lost interest. And that is even if the good arrive without defects and actually fit.

Really like that green colour, works very well. Not a colour that's easy to get 'right' in an engineer - last green pair I saw looked like wellies. (That said.... welly boots that look like engineer boots, that's an idea I could get behind for really wet weather wear!!)

new (to me) made in GM Japan engineer boots

Always nice to see a pair of tough boots worn hard like those Wescos. It's all too easy in this game to hunt out the best quality, best built boots we can find - and then baby them! I know I have to remind myself sometimes not to do this!

I like the dual prong on those GM boots, nice little detail variation.
