I lived in Guanajuato, Guanajuato for a few years. Leon Guanajuato has a huge industry of boot making with a history of hand crafted boots going back for hundreds of years. Many companies both large companies and very small boot makers and craftsmen are located in Leon Guanajuato. They make a lot of really fine quality products there.
Usually if I see guys wearing these kinds of boots, I try to be very polite to them:

Well, I wore these Frye Engineer boots all day today at work. Can't say I've ever seen a Chef wear them over check Chef's pants in a kitchen before. Got lots of comments because everyone knows I don't ride. But pretty comfy for $180. I still may have to upgrade when I have a few more paychecks in the bank.

Made on Leon Guanajuato Mexico.

Sorry Jonesy I've been away from this thread for a couple of days......the answer is yes, I'm in England so I get import VAT (20%) and a handling charge (which I believe is not real and is a made up thing:D) but in some instances its the only way you can get some Japanese only items. I use Rakuten ichiba which in some instances do ship to the UK and if not I use Japan Auction Agency as I do when buying from yahoo aleado.

Hey Allwood

Thanks for the info. It's kinda strange that i gotta buy from Japan to get some good old fashioned USA products' and quality reproductions. I'll check out the web sites you recommended.

Cheers!

Can't believe I haven't posted my Clinch boots from Brass Tokyo here yet.
Along with Role Club, these are the best made engineer boots in the world.
The black pair is their Japanese veg-tanned cowhide and the brown pair is Italian horsebutt finished at the Shinki tannery.

Also, the black pair was worn for about a day when these pictures were taken.

Not only really beautiful, but they look like they are going to last a lifetime. Does anyone know how to get Clinch boots in the US?
Thanks,

Oops, don't know why it posted 3 times, sorry.

No worries - easy done if there's a slow refresh rate on the site.

Interesting boots, which model are they? I've seen rubber soled Fryes here in the UK, but significantly more expensive. Interesting too they're a flatter sole. I've noticed that's a big difference between a lot of older US and UK bike boots, which seems to reflect the difference between US cowboy boots and UK riding bootsa, the latterf always having had a lower, squarer heel.

Man the leather on the brown pair is very nice and the red stitching on the black pair is very coo. I want some. Where do I buy them?

They are Frye Sutton Engineer. They are on sale on the Frye US page $180:

https://www.thefryecompany.com/sutton-engineer-d-88001

I bought them on Amazon same price.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IM5BR02/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are pretty decent for the money. I put my orthotics in them, they run a little big so I sized down 1/2 size. They aren't even in the same world as some of the other boots that are being discussed here. But again the price was right and they break in easy, and wear easy.

The Frye Addison boots are also worth a look. They were on sale on their home page for about $325.00 some time ago (and on Amazon) but I let it slip. I'm keeping an eye out for another sale, though.

They do have different lasts available that are wider. You'd have to ask them directly about customer sizing though.

You can get them from Pancho and Lefty or order them directly from Clinch themselves. Thanks for the kind words!
