They are starting to feel better! Took some wearing through gritted teeth / different sock / insole combos, but they've started to give in to my feet a bit. So much so that I managed to wear the last two days in a row haha.
Here's some pics of how they're looking after a few weeks on and off wear.

The Attractions don't seem to be capable of breaking in... it's not about the leather upper, it's all to do with the shank and the heel leveling. Unless you can sand the bottom of the heel to the extent that the boots tilts backward a little (almost like lowering the rear suspension of a truck so that the nose looks up), it won't feel right walking. Mine still don't feel right.

Hey guys,
Just joined after reading helpful advice on here for a while, so thank you all already.

Couple of questions I'd love your experience and expertise on. (Not sure if this is the correct thread so I'm asking in others also)...
About to order some Engineers (looking at Wesco Boss, love the big rounded bump toe on the standard boss toe last) but agonizing over a couple options.
Firstly sizing - I currently wear White's Smokejumpers in a 13EE and they fit perfectly. I've seen some of you guys suggest Wesco is half-to one size up? According to my tracings and measurements, talking to Chris at Wesco I'm between a 13.5EEE and a 14EE ? But I've read others say they are all true to size and the same size fits fine... Any advice?

Secondly, midsoles... I'm definitely going for a #430 sole and probably brown dyed edge, but don't know whether to go double or standard single midsoles. I know I've got a decent sized hoof and I'm 6'1" so the doubles wouldn't look too out of proportion and I love the chunky look. But I don't wanna look like I'm on stage with KISS in platforms and have a heap of heel slippage from super stiff soles...
Thirdly buckles - I love the traditional vintage shiny look of the nickel, but I've read that most recommend the roller style for function?

Finally, has anyone bought or tried on the new White's Cykel boot? I know my size in White's at least, but they might be too narrow/pointy (kinda Equestrian looking), and are only thin soles...

I need to get it right unfortunately via distance, (I'm in Australia).

Hello

I have bought Wesco's engineers a few weeks ago : here's my experience. I am afraid that it won't answer 100% your questions but I think it may help you (sorry for the funny english, I am French speaking, I am sure you will have noticed )

- Size : my Wesco's are true to size with my other shoes (dress shoes and boots, no sneakers). But mine have a MP toe, maybe the Boss toe is a bit different. My normal size is between 42 and 43 european, so 8.5UK. I took 9.5US and it's good. Maybe 9 would have been OK but I can't stand when my toes touch the end of a shoe.

- Sole : Mines are the number 700. I didn't want the extra leather midsole because it looks bulky and I wanted to keep the profile as "light" as possible. I also feared about the stiffness. The boots are really comfortable, stiff but not too much and walking with them is easy but the boots are heavy, the extra midsole will not improve this fact.

- Buckles : see the link, my boots have the same, Copper roller buckles : https://www.ironheart.co.uk/boots2/ihtb-boblk.html With brow Domain Leather, it's very nice. Also : the extra inch for the instep strap is a nice add-on. "Nice to have", but not really necessary...

Chadwick, welcome to the lounge! I own four pairs of Wesco engineers, two with the standard Boss toe and two with the MP toe. In my experience boots with the Boss toe run pretty much true to size, perhaps a little wider than my Red Wings. I would highly recommend that you go with your foot tracings, and input from the guys at Wesco rather than anything you read here (including this post).
As far as midsoles I really like the look of the double midsole and I own a pair of White’s Nomad engineers with this feature. It certainly does make the booth a bit stiffer though, especially when it is new.
I have the standard nickel buckles on two of my boots, and the copper roller buckles on two pairs. Both styles are nice as far as I’m concerned. To be honest though, I do not buckle and unbuckle the straps on mine when I take them on or off. I set them when they are new and leave them in place. I know some people say this is not how these boots are supposed to be worn but it works fine for me.
One thing to consider that you may not have is the strap length on the instep (bottom) strap. I highly recommend that you add at least 1 inch, if not 2, to this strap. This gives the boot much more of a vintage engineer look with the straps hanging down a little more out of the buckle.
