Grrr... Now First Data is a company that have some experience with, limited, but more than Western Union. They keep calling my photo studio every other business day and asking if I accept credit cards. They are one of the many corporations that offer cc processing services. Seem nice enough though. Just persistant.

I too felt a bit of dread in reading that. I had no clue that one was still able to send an actual telegram. If I would have known I would have sent at least one- just to have done it. Oh well. Another one bites the dust. Are there any more companies that still send telegrams???:cheers1:

I was just desiging business cards for my company, and a crazy thought flashed through my head - I'd like to have a Telex number. Don't know what I would do with it, but I like the idea of having "Telex" on the cards. As it is, I'm replacing "E-mail" with "Electronic Comminques"

Senator Jack

Well, there's always a Retro-Gram. (Easily found at http://www.retro-gram.com .)

I thought of that after hearing the news that Western Union had sent their last telegram, at least I can still send a replica. I personally do care for the time and the pace of those days. Now everything's so break neck speed, so... Ah well. Nothing I can do about it. Can't wish away computers and microwave instructions. But with that, some things just fly right out the window. I have absolutely no idea how to write a proper letter and am quite sorry about that fact. I want to insist that my children at least know how as my mother never pressed such things. Come to think of it, I was very polite in person but rather rude in general as a child. No thank you cards or anything. I'd like to do better someday. But I've gone off on a tangent long enough.

It's quite odd because just a few weeks before the last telegram I was on the Western Union site doing reasearch for my telegram stationery and I didn't see a notice anywhere that they were planning on no longer continuing with the telegram.

Luckily you can still send telegrams through American Telegram.
