Einstein-style sweater

I am looking for a wool sweater similar to the one above, in this iconic photograph of Albert Einstein: close-knit wool with turn-back cuffs. It would be an occasional change from the military and fisherman's sweaters for which I am noted. I have owned a number of them in the past, mainly in my teens and 20s, and they used to be very easy to get. Yet now they seem scarce. Does anyone else on FL wear them, like them or know of a store where they can be obtained?

Funny you should say that, because as you might see from other threads I am a stalwart customer of OK and have a large collection of their Woolly Pully sweaters and a Submariners sweater from them.
I am also a great fan of fishermen’s sweaters, especially Guernseys.
OK don’t do this type of sweater but I am looking at some traditional Shetland sites at the moment.
I have often joked that OK should pay me a commission as I am constantly recommending it, including here on FL.
Which of their sweaters do you have, if I may ask?

Yes, I’ve been looking at Harley and will try Shetland Voe. When I wore them years ago I think it was Shetland Knitwear Ltd!

I have a light blue and also a beige pully. Living in SoCal neither get much use these days. I also have a Fjallraven (too lazy to look up the correct spelling) sweater that I picked up in Sweden a few years ago. It's very similar to the Einstein sweater you seek. At least worth a look on their website.

Very good choice of Woolly Pullies: I have these but more often wear Navy, Black or Dark Grey Mix.
Your Swedish spelling is spot on. However I have found a Scottish site campbellsofbuleau.com which has exactly the right Shetlands in a good range of colours!

In Einstein's student days the turtleneck sweater, dungarees and leather jacket was the uniform of the student radical, borrowed from the working class. He preferred to dress this way all his life. If you could find out what sort of sweater factory workers wore in Berlin in 1900 that would be the look.

It’s rather a good look and it evokes a proud working class culture that was central to the economy - unlike the 1930s when there was mass unemployment or today’s zero hours culture.

Back to the sweaters: it is very similar to the hand-knitted Shetland sweaters I used to wear when I was younger. There’s therefore a bit of nostalgia involved in seeking out this sweater - and it’s also an alternative for occasional days from the military wool sweaters I wear throughout the cooler months.

I like that style too, very much 1960s/1970s, I had some in Vee, Crew and Roll Neck, all Shetland wool. You don't see them very often these days which is a pity.

Yes, I wore them in the 70s and 80s - mainly crew but also v and roll neck - as an alternative to Woolly Pullies, Guernseys, etc. I liked them a lot.
