A few days ago on this same thread I posted some rambling self righteous comments directed to a fellow lounge member that were completely uncalled for and out of line. I was wrong for doing so and knew it from the moment I pushed “post”. In a moment of stupidity I was not only rude and offensive, I made a fool and a hypocrite of myself. Who the hell am I to decide or say who should have what or how much?
I may not have accumulated as many hats as Max but I’ve got way too many..running out of room. Do I wear them often enough? Heck some don’t even fit. But I’ve got em, they’re cool and I admire them just as much as anybody else does theirs.
The irony.. Max’s “over indulgence “ is evidently just hats. I’ve got closets full of vintage leather jackets, wool coats (and I live in the desert where winters are short and mild). Another one full of vintage suits and ties and I had even forgotten of the drawers full of vintage sunglasses..a dozen vintage helmets....
If my wife caught wind of this there would be some serious trouble and house cleaning here in Buckeye. Bottom line I’m as guilty and more so of “over indulgence” (hoarding) than the next guy
...that’s generally what us hypocrites do.
In reality I’m a very private keeps to myself kinda guy...I generally mind my own business and stay out of other peoples business. I guess in a moment of weakness I let the whining of a second place loser surface. I thought about trying to blame it on the post just before me for getting me started. (Only kidding). I take full responsibility for my rude and offensive behavior and ashamed of myself for so doing.
I’ve already apologized to Max and I’m apologizing to all here who I irritated and offended as well.
I’ll try to remember...

Oh, you are a Lonesome Dove Fan? I love Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call. I even named a Newfoundland show dog in Gus' honor.
I think the last quote is attributed to Abraham Lincoln, and I am a fan as well.
I was very pleased to read your apology, Greg, and happy I made a new friend.
Thank you!

Glad you two were able to “hug it out” virtually. Sometimes great friendships arise from conflict.

Dobbs Twenty

always nice to find a Twenty for significantly less than 20. Even if this one apparently has what’s left of Indy’s bullwhip for a hat band.

These are the only other markings on the sweat, so I assume the 3210 is the lot#. I don't actually see and L, but a faded ot. Also put in a shot of the 2nd tag, which was attached. In Huston’s article about dating there was an early tag similar to it, but from another hat maker
[QUOTE
If you can photograph it safely, would like to see the LOTXXXX number imprinted on the reverse side of the sweat in the front of the hat.

Thanks for sharing. LOT3210 would place this hat a little later than the one posted by Tukwila, which would agree with the small round size sticker (generally later than the large scalloped version) and the look and feel of the sweatband - late teens to early 1920s would be my guess.

I have read the book several times. Sometimes a passage or witty remark pops in my head and I revisit the pages, which is a lot easier to do nowadays with Kindle in your cell.
Too bad the rest of the books in the series aren't as good.

If we could all qualify for an epitaph like Josh Deets we would all be real men and the world would be a better place.
