I agree.
In March of 2018 I had to go to Chicago. I had been watching a series called "Justified". In the final episodes there was a pistol duel where both of the duelists' hats flew to the ground. Someone on the 'net said the bad guy's hat was made by Optimo in Chicago, so I went there and bought my first good hat. (I had a Stetson El Presidente I thought was a good hat, but after Optimo I knew better)

I had no idea it would become an addiction. I had a question about hats a couple of weeks later, and found the Lounge. I only had one question, I thought, and was annoyed I had to register in the site for such a small thing. The first screen name I tried was taken, so I just wrote the beginning of my office's email address, drmaxtejeda, to satisfy the registration requirement. I was just going to ask my question and leave, I thought, so I didn't care if I chose a good screen name.

And again, I had no idea that The Fedora Lounge would become a big part of my daily life, or that I would meet Bowen, Brent, Bill, Daniel, Ken, Bob, Stefan, Steve, Steven, Eric, Alan, Douglas, Jim, Charlie, Héctor, etc.
The only member I've actually met in person is Daniel, yet I feel I have a whole bunch of new friends I wouldn't have met otherwise, and that my life is richer because of it.

That reminds me, I just came back from a reunion of club friends from when I was a teenager. Those were golden years for us all. Many of them I hadn't seen since I left for my postgrad in Chicago, nearly 40 years ago. We look so different now we had to wear name tags to help us know who was who.

Glad you watched Justified Max. Lol
Your rise to a hat collection, beyond my imagination, has been a treat for me to watch. I don’t comment much on your acquisitions as over time i have lost the words, i just say “Oh my”, over and over.
Thanks for being here.

Lol
I’ve pulled over from driving many times to be there for the last 6 seconds of an auction. Thank heavens for phone alarms and unlimited data plans. I’m used to rolly eyes and “wtf’s”! I just tell em “it’s my turn”! Lol

Good, then I'm not the only one sitting on the edges of a Wal-Mart parking lot watching hats expire on eBay.

I know we don’t normally post live auctions here, but my curiosity got the better of me. Has anyone seen a topper complete with human hair before?

Very well said Max. I think you joined the lounge around the same time that I did. I too only joined to ask a question, and naturally that one question turned into more questions, and buying more hats than I originally had intended. I don't participate in the lounge much as far as posting and commenting goes, but I stop in nearly every day and enjoy seeing your hats, as well as everyone else's. I appreciate your additions to the Lounge and thank you for sharing them with us.

My guess is it was done up for a costume........It was fashionable for women to wear toppers and net up their hair when riding at different times.
Additionally, hair pieces for women have been around for centuries.....so, also may be a women either adding to her hair or hiding shortened hair..........hard to say.......
My, best guess is costume as I first stated.......
