Very nice, Josh, and very, very rare. With its St. Paul, Minnesota roots and colorful history, the Gordon & Ferguson Co. is of particular interest to me. I recently found a beautiful '20s-'30s Gordon hat box from out of the woodwork here in Minnesota but have yet to stumble upon a Gordon fedora.

Thanks very much, Al! Do you have pictures of the box? I would be really interested in seeing it. I first discovered the Gordon & Ferguson Co from Dinermans posts in the pre-1940's hat thread. His early long haired examples are just spectacular. The Gordon that I had was from the 30's, and based on the pictures, the one I will be receiving is from the 30's as well. I would really love to know more about the company because it appears that they made some very nice high quality hats.

Thanks, Ed! I wonder how many of these medals have been found on the lounge. I believe Lefty has 3, I will have 1, and I believe there are a few more. At the time that this medal was given to the Stetson employees, I believe Stetson employed between 3000-5000 people. I would imagine there must be a few more medals out there....

I agree, Josh. Gordon Hats are definitely deserving of a thread documenting their history as well as examples of their fine hats.

Here are a few photos of my Gordon Hats box, tucked away in an attic for decades and brought to a small antiques show in St. Paul last month, sadly without the hat it once protected.

The outdoorteam started to list their items per BIN only recently - a few months ago, if I remember correctly. Their items really haven't sold very fast ever since.
Before that, I think they did sell most of their stuff.

I made them an offer on a hat that was very reasonable and not too much lower than their BIN. They counter offered with a very small discount and the last time I looked the hat is still there. They have some nice hats for sale but I haven't seen any that I was following sell.

Now there is a hat that I must have! :eusa_clap I've never seen a Gordon fedora prior to this post.

OK- not unheard of but very... optimistic, eh?

They DO have great hats to be sure, but it is one thing to allow the bidders to push an item to that $ point-
quite another to place an item at a (quite possible to realize at auction ) value up front & have it languish unsold, IMO.
But I sell far less than I buy :eusa_doh: , so I may be turned around on this 'un.
