That's what I do sometimes when I really like something, place max bid high enough as a deterrent, then if someone bids over, well they would get a very expensive hat. But usually I am a low bidder

The Hückel (Weilheim) Chevreau looks to be the same as mine. This is a fantastic hat.

The other Hückel (Weilheim) Special looks fantastic too.

Both are most likely mid 1950s and of the highest quality.

Congrats, Mike! Gratifying to see so much interest in this pair of green "bowlers" from my friends here. It is, as Alan said, a bit like deja vu. The seller had two of these Millers, both green, NOS, and from the same 100+ year-old mercantile store in tiny Fertile, way-up-north Minnesota.

The store had a stock of early 1900 ladies' shoes, these two hats from a long-since defunct St. Paul, Minnesota hatter, and assorted other interesting items that were kept in deep storage until the going out-of-business public auction a few years back. The felt is of a much darker and richer shade of green than the seller's photos would indicate, and is a very lovely heather finish.

I think you will really like the lid, Mike, but if it does not work for you or Ed, let me know. I would be happy to have it join its sibling back in Minnesota! Do me a favor, though, gents, and please keep the feather should either of you choose to remove it?
