OK, tried sending a polite message about not seeing tracking info and asked if There was a problem with my PayPal payment....asked if the payment was recieved.

Sent that message 2 days ago......I have gotten no reponse to my email.

I'm beginng to think this seller may want me to ask for my payment back because the hat sold for less than they thought it would sell for.....I really expected the hat to sell for more than it did.

You can check Paypal payment status by checking your Paypal account history.

And, what eBay item are you talking about anyway?

You might be right. Among other things, sellers sometimes claim that a won item has suddenly been "accidentally damaged", "destroyed", or just "lost", and then offer you a full refund. Several sellers have done just that to me.

Yep......it sucks to be played.

I really dislike being involved with stuff like this.....on either side buyer or seller.

If you say you're going to buy something.......send the money!

If you say you're going to sell something......when you get the money...put the item in the buyers hands.

If anything comes up in-between for buyer or seller....COMMUNICATE!!!!!!

Just need a little "vintage" integrity here.....

It's a hat.....not a great amount of money.....but, it's my money and then there's that "it's the principle of the thing"

I have checked my account....paid within minutes of auction end....I was sent a receipt of payment.

i only asked if there was a problem recieveing payment to attempt to open up communication with the seller.....

And also not every seller uses the eBay shipping feature or even bothers to mark items shipped.

I've received several items that never showed in eBay as ever being shipped. It might just show up.

+1 to that. Quite a lot of my ebay transactions were never marked as shipped. Even Priority Int'l shipments, where one might be inclined to ask what's the point of sending it Priority (i.e. trackable).
I never bother to contact the seller - every single shipment so far arrived safely.

Happens to me all the time. Most recently with a nice vintage straw (possibly a Leghorn?) bought for a song late last Summer. Seller claimed the recent Hurricane as the culprit, yet was way out of the area affected, and also claimed "have been unable to locate the hat in my warehouse". Two excuses in one? Promised to send the hat as soon as it was located if I'd accept a refund and allow them to cancel the transaction.... I suppose I should have declined, but did not.

This too. Happens more often than above in my case, let us hope that is what is going on here.

I'm glad to hear that your payment was in fact processed correctly. And I certainly understand your frustration over the seller's failure to communicate.

I hope that you get the hat soon (and that it's all you want it to be).

At times, the tracking information that a seller is to "save" for the buyer to be able to view, simply will not "save" no matter what. I know this as a few times my Wife has sold things on eBay and currently one of her sales will not save the tracking information, or show that the item has indeed, shipped. However, she at least sends a message to inform the buyer of everything so they will have the tracking information.

We have had several purchases come with no tracking info and the seller says they had the same problem, it would not "save" it in the eBay information. Have no clue why it happens like that, but it does!

Wow, I would just flat out contact the seller again, and ask them if this has been shipped and for the tracking information for your own records and that you are just concerned for having the item arrive at your front door. No harm in that!

Just picked up this Early Stetson Select Quality

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160744907726?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Its really a SHAME that someone trimmed this brim to 1 3/4 inches wide.

It would make a great parts hat though. I'm sure that at some point in the future I will buy a 20's Stetson Select that needs a ribbon or sweatband and this donor hat has a beautiful ribbon and decent sweatband. I may also just leave it as a "Cagney" hat with super short brim and tall crown. I will sand the edge however, to make it a uniform roundness and smoothness. Havent decided on which it will be, donor hat or Cagney. Thoughts???

I knew that hat looked familiar. Was mine for a short while, and then I sold it to Lounger Mr_Misanthropy. And no, I wasn't the one who cut the brim. :p

That hat has a glorious crown on it, its really sad that someone cut the brim. I would never think it was you, Marc. I know you have too much respect for vintage clothes. Whoever did cut the brim must have wanted a stingy. I tell ya, I wish I would have known before the brim cut so I could have given 20 60's stingies to the person for just one 20's Select Quality.
