Thanks Tom, nice when things turn out well. I was pretty happy that she didn't accept my offer, right after I made it I was thinking that this wasn't really a $160 hat - even though Stratoliners had been selling for that or more.

I was also expecting the hat to be Silverbelly, but it's a nice shade of light grey.

Just arrived Stratoliner from this auction.

Interestingly, the seller had been trying to sell for quite a while at a $299 BIN price with no success. A couple of months ago, I'd offered her $160 which she didn't accept. No worries, when she changed to a regular auction, I was able to win for less than $70!

The hat is in need of a fair bit of cleaning, but otherwise quite nice. Need to get a pin now!

Not very well - I was using the Hipstermatic iPhone app and the colour versions were really funky. Hipstermatic can make some super black and whites though!

Thanks, LMH2. It cleaned up quite nicely too. Still needs a little more work, but will be a good hat when done.

I had that one on my radar, but I spent my hat budget so I decided to let it go. The bottom line is I probably saved you about $70 because I was planning to go $175 on that one.

Marc, may I ask, what were you figuring that hat would go for? Also, did you consider having a Reserve on it? (I've never gone the Reserve route; it seems off-putting to me.)

Wormser Open Road style.

Just got a white Wormser Open Road (1950s, I guess?).

I intend to get rid of the thin ribbon and put on a 1-3/4 inch black ribbon. But I wanted to get this photo up before I do that.

By the way, I know the tag says 6-7/8 but it fits like a perfect size 7! I thought I might have to replace the sweatband and have it stretched to fit, but, nope!

It sort of amuses me that it is both a "3X" and a "Ten Star Quality" hat! That's a lot of quality, baby!

This thing is clean as a whistle, too. I doubt it was ever much worn.

That's a nice one, HE, I considered that one, but I have a white Wormser I bought a few months ago. Only difference is, it has a black thin ribbon. That one looks pristine--- good catch!
