I don't know what I'm more jealous of; the hat or the camera!

You guys need to remember that the majority of these eBay Sellers are not "hat people", as in, they have no clue on hat sizing. Some don't even realize there is a size to a hat (saw one recently, Seller stated "measures 21 1/2 inches around, so it's a large size hat"... in what universe is that?).

Good point T Rick. I take that into consideration. Sometimes I get the impression the seller might be lazy and that's went I really get irritated, especially when they also only attach a few crappy pictures (or even just one or a picture of a box with a mystery hat, etc). If a seller is selling lots of stuff (i.e. it looks like they are a yard sale hound and trying to make a living on ebay) then I figure they could do more work in listing their merchandise. Maybe those people end up not making enough money or get too many complaints and then end up going away... Part of the problem is the bad economy. (Though you wouldn't think there was a bad economy with all the hats that sell on eBay and the prices some get! *laugh*) There are so many people trying to find stuff at yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores, etc anymore (I also blame Antiques Road show, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, etc as well). There are the pros out there that know what they are doing and are totally professional in their actions and then there are the "get rich quick" lazy types who I don't have much patience for! Of course there are the "crooks," but that's a whole other thread...I know people that have been in the buying and selling business for years that have become pretty disgusted with how things have become in the last few years. That's enough of my soap box ranting though so I'll shut up on this topic....

I'm gentle on the sellers that look like they might be selling dear old dad or granddad's hat that has been in the closet for years...

Doggone. That is one fine looking hat. Out of all of the hats I've seen in the almost two months I've been on the forum, that might qualify as the perfect casual hat. I tend to like the thinner ribbons for casual wear. One thing I will say is that you're a great judge of hats. Most of your hats look like they were made especially for you.

No, I don't think so. The hat may be suffering from wide-angle camera phone distortion. The dimensions, liner and paper lining protector are very similar to my Borsalino featherweight with 2" brim. At least I'm hoping so.

Thanks very much for your note. This was one of my first vintage purchases on ebay and it's still one of my favorites.

...I just drooled on my keyboard. One, because I've been looking all over for a Kitten Finish lid for a while. Two, the edge, the ribbon treatment, the color...perfect. You'd break my heart if you told me it was a size 7.

It's a 7 1/8. Hope that will be a relief ;-)

Thanks for your kind comments, gentlemen. I'm tickled silly about this hat.
