Thanks, guys, I'm pretty excited about it myself. Should make a cool looking everyday summer hat for me.

I would have shot for that Stetson derby, too, but I neglected to look closer at the pictures. I thought that funny-looking white frilling at the front of the curl was a frayed binding; upon closer inspection it's just the white rug obstructing it. Dang it, I've been looking for an old bowler like that for a long time, too.

Another one will come along. Bowlers, especially smaller ones, are plentiful and cheaper than soft hats.

Great Marshall Field Stetson exposition medal derby, size 7 If the receipt goes with the hat, and it sounds like it does, then Stetson was using this expo medal up to at least '39.

picked this up last week. I don't usually go for hats like this but something about this one appealed to me. It needs to be cleaned and reblocked and I think the ribbon has to go.

What's with low-reserve auction items disappearing a day or so before the time runs out, and then popping up a few days later (same photos and original description) at ten times the price?
I think I've seen it happen 2-3 times this week.
