Unless someone sewed in a vintage sweatband, that's not
a newer hat made up for a movie. Pretty cool buckle on that
band, too. It does appear to me somehow older than your hat.

But yeah, I'd want more bona fides and perhaps fewer moth bites
for that money. For the look, it'd be easier to get a ranger hat from
a bit later.

There's no doubt that's an old one, but look at the bands on his other hats-
The bands may be old, but are clearly not original to the others.

Eek. I didn't see those others.
Hard to know what to believe now!
It would be interesting to see the actual hat.
See for example whether the leather tanning and
oxidized brass had invaded the felt and what that looks like.

How aggravating! I'm 0 for 5 on bids over the last few days. Yall need to let me win at least one 7 3/8" or 7 1/2":eusa_doh:

Unless you want a stingy brim be prepared to shell out big bucks for a vintage non-western wide brim in that size range

My fourth brown Homburg. I keep telling my husband that there are important differences that make each a treasure. He remains skeptical. ;)

As seen recently on Stetson Quality Experiment "Think Tank" Thread. I'm pleasantly shocked at the price.

I look forward to a critique of a 40's 4X, against a 3x, 25, and a 7x clear of the same vintage.

IDIOTIC POSTAL ESTIMATES by SELLERS

This is a classic case of a seller scaring away potential buyers w/ an over-the-top shipping estimation- BILTMORE HAT GREY Size 7 3/8 Three 3 Star Silver Buckle

Bilt2.jpg

I put down the only bid and was refunded $28+ of the idiotic shipping charges. as a result I got a like new vintage biltmore thin ribbon OR clone for much less than it sold when it was new. :D Talk about sabotaging your own auction!

Actually one of them was a stingy! I guess I'll just have to find other sources for my vintage hats. I know that just asking the elderly members of my family has been my best source. Maybe I'll start attending bridge club meetings or something:)

Wow, that was an odd deal. Looks like a great hat for the total amount.
