True enough. Some people just get swept up in the BS. :) As an experiment, would you ever write a rilico-esque listing? I would as an experiment in marketing - surely those big corporate bucks are spent somewhere.

"A spot of tea with that scone, milady?" is what Lord Kempsey said as he sat squarely onto the grassy bank. The river sparkled beneath the sunlight as their boat floated gently down the river. Dressed in a crisp linen suit, with an elegant Lanson Hubbard boater atop his head, he was the epitome of style and sophistication... lol

Were there a lot of watchers?

I think there were 17 watchers and 4 bidders. Oh well, I should stick to selling here on the lounge.

They do seem to fetch higher prices, especially since you have people who probably have a greater understanding for the value of things. Or at least, be surrounded by those they can get the information from.

Sorry to hear it didn't sell to it's intrinsic worth, hopefully the next one will be a little higher. I know it's a pain selling to worldwide, but might expand the marketplace?

Strangely enough, you're right - the buyer is in Japan.

The most valuable vintage men's clothing items on eBay (e.g., vintage denim and workwear) usually have very spare descriptions. No B.S., and no fun as well. Rilico writes creatively and obviously enjoys doing it. I reckon he writes for the love of it.

.

His descriptions are certainly interesting. Also, if you don't want to have to deal with opening the auction and digging through the description, only to find buried near the bottom that it's a 6 7/8... :) If it doesn't have a size in the title, then it's 7 1/8 or smaller.

Yeah, you took a beatin' on that one. Hated to see it.

It's timing, y'know; like fishing expeditions. If you'd listed that hat a month earlier or later it might've gone three-digits. Just happened that the right person or two wasn't shopping when you offered this piece. I don't know about you Garrett, but that phenomenon has worked to my advantage on the buying end many times so when I get around to selling off some hats, I'll probably get some reverse-karma too.

As far as selling here on The Lounge, you do at least control your price but I notice that you are very fair and sensible about it. You don't try to make killings here, but rather to move the goods (and I do mean good hats) and flow the cash. I appreciate your style in hats and business.

:)

'Greenish' Brock

Just won this greenish Brock, along with a couple of others. I don't know anything about Brocks - anyone else?

Blue!

Received this blue Paragon today. Still raw out of its box and somewhat dusty, but otherwise in superb condition. The blue is naturally dusty, as well, but I suspect it will be a lovely muted color when it's clean. I've been looking for a blue hat!:)

Magic Lantern Advertising Slides

I'm sooooo glad I got these. I was going to bump my bids up today and forgot, but no one else jumped in on them.
