Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Didn't know where else to post this.

I had made a purchase with seller: "timothiescloset" recently, changed my mind, he issued a refund before it was shipped out. The refund bounced twice, the seller became suddenly unresponsive to my messages to ask if there was an issue, I gave him the benefit of the doubt but after this bad experience, I've had to take the next steps with ebay and my credit card to issue the refund which will hopefully go smoother since they have policies in place.

I don't know if anyone else has had issues with this seller I'm very disappointed.
While this seller is not my cup of tea due to his prices, I've never heard of anybody getting a bad deal from him. Too bad you have to go this route.

Apparently they collect import taxes as well. Had to pay quite a premium on the last hat I won. Far less inclined to bid on hats knowing that.:(

I hate to be bearer of bad news but it might be tied to the Global Shipping Program (GSP) and not import taxes. If that's the case you might end up being charged VAT anyway, because that should be between you and your government. The GSP is pretty much universally panned over on the leather jacket side of TFL. Lot of horror stories associated with it.

I kind of wondered how this would work, so it's likely I will be charged import taxes (again) before I can finally hold that hat in my hands. It will have doubled in price by then. The invoice does state the charge is for international shipping and import taxes though. Lesson learned.

I have no sales tax in Oregon, but this will kill any thought of me ordering goods from other countries if taxes are being imposed by internet, shipping and intermediary companies.

I have been thinking of caps from Keith Lo Bue, hats from Hornskov, etc, but no way if trade gets taxed to death.

"Wool" Borsalino, hehe. Gift for my friend Willy. I love ignorant eBay sellers. Do NOT educate.

Ha. I knew you won it! I was writing with the seller to establish a date on the hat; he had already turned down my low, low offer when I left for some laundry and came back...and it was gone!

It looks like a great addition to the collection!

We ought to make it a team trick. One of us makes a really low offer, and the other makes a half-decent one and swoops in! [emoji1]

Blame me. I told Max about this one. If the brim had been wider I would have tried to get it.

BIN Nutria Stetson bowler currently en route. It’s a 5/8 size that I’m taking another gamble on but feel slightly more confident after my 5/8 7x CB from GW which fits exceptionally well.
Also was doing some heavy searches the past few days, only one other post of a Nutria Bowler? My first ‘nut’ btw, and it’s low BIN has me hoping it’s a true eBay steal.
