Stetson Nutria. I am surprised I won it. Didn't go for much. I will ask Ignacio for a brim Curl and Gus bash, see how it looks.

Oh! And a set of Pogo figurines. My Mom loved Pogo, and so do I.
I go Pogo!
Always liked his hat.

Generalized message exchange with seller. We've already exchanged a couple before the below as I was trying to help the person identify hat size.

ME: What is the brim width, as measured from the edge to the crown? This has little/no relation to the size of the hat. I'm just curious what the brim width dimension is. That was going to be my original question before seeing the other inquiry. Could you also take pics of the length and width measurements of the head opening? Also, would it be asking too much trouble if I could see a closeup picture of the logo in the center of the liner (where the top of the head would be)? I'm not sure if it's faded away or just a bit out of focus, but I can't read all wording.

SELLER: Here pictures of another hat I will be listing.

(Picture of size tag, and picture of retail store address on sweatband)

SELLER: Did you get the photos. This other hat is the same mans hat.

ME: I received one message containing (2) pictures of a new hat. If you sent me something else in response to my inquiries about the first hat, then no, I did not receive anything.

SELLER: Just what I sent you. I hope this helps,

WTF. SMH. OMG. (Insert acronym here)

I was watching that too (the nutria not the toys). I know you’re not a big western guy, but that hat might make you a convert.

I just figured I must have one Stetson Nutria, one top hat, and one bowler. Now I have all three.
So, had you heard of Pogo before, Brent? Walt Kelly?

Nice find, Max. I love the figurines. I picked up Pogo when Fantagraphics first did a reprint of it (they never finished that run).

Found this item of interest (at the link below) and am curious exactly what constitutes 100x beaver v. 7x or 5x? At what point do the number of x's stop? I have searched on this forum for the definition but haven't found anything conclusive.
DISCLAIMER: I am not the seller of said item.

There really is nothing conclusive. It's, for the most part, marketing. A 3X in one brand can be as good as a 7X in another. To make matters even more confusing, a 1950s Stetson 3X would be nicer than a 1980s Stetson 6X, because the hats and felts were of higher quality in past years.

You just sort of get a feel for it after a while.

Thanks Frunobulax for the clarification.

All you can say is that if your comparing hats made by the same company at the exact same time the higher “X” count represent a “better” hat.

But the way, for a fraction of what they want for that Stetson you can commission a custom 100% beaver fur felt hat that will be head and shoulders better quality.

That makes perfect sense. My reason for posting that was it seems like some mfr's are going into a sort of "X overload" (as Frunobulax indicated), as a marketing gimmick.

I have no interest in the hat on the posted link, merely wanted to acquire a bit of useful information on the "X" rating. Aboslutely agree one could commission a better quality hat at a better price.
