This was sold to me (new) as a Lewis Leathers Lightning, though it is not badged. The place I bought it had a small rail of LL and James Grose samples, all 36 or 38, some with brand labels and some without—the shop owner says they were bought directly from the LL/JG pattern cutters who ran out of storage in lockdown. I would say this confirms the theory that the two brands are made by the same people. This is definitely a lightning design but the proportions are identical to my JG Manila, and it has a 2 way Albert zip. As such I think it may be a longer cut for the Japanese market. Please see the measurements as it’s a slim 36.

Looks close enough, and at that price, all nitpicking would be ridiculous. An intersteing jacket for sure!

Just for the nerds among us: The main zip is not what LL uses as a standard (Clix), but looks like an almost identical alternative.

Thanks! Albert zips are what JG use, and they’re very solid if sometimes a bit stiff to get started. Also should have mentioned, the only label it does have is “Made in England”.
