The bug really has gotten hold, Max. I've seen that one on auction and it's good to see it go to a deserving home. Dunn&Co were basically a menswear retailer. The company outsourced their manufacturing, certainly of their hats and had several makers as their supplier. T&W Lees of Stockport was one of them, but they outsourced in Europe too (they had European made velour hats in their collection). The company logos are many and varied, but the G.A. in the company name stands for George Arthur and was greatly reduced in size or dropped altogether after his death in 1939. So that makes this hat very likely a thirties or even twenties hat. The rest of the features, like the liner, sweatband and the leather case it came in also point towards an early date. I don't think this kind of hat could have been made in India, but was maybe taken there by its owner. Nice!I just bought this wonderful hat in eBay. I will also post it on the appropriate thread.
Could anyone tell me more about it? @steur, @alanfgag, @mayserwegener, anyone?
It happens to be my size, but I bought it without knowing for sure anyway.
I just love the liner, the sweatband, the leather case...
The seller, kelleyschoice2, is very helpful. I recommend him.
