Ebay trials and tribulations---I got this Stetson 25 in a box marked "Fragile". The postal service must not have noticed. The hat was not packed well to begin with.

But it cleaned up nicely.

Ugh. The end result looks great.

I had a bad experience with USPS. I shipped two great hats to Rick, and they received some unreversible damage. It was sad. :(

OK..... This one takes the cake for me as far as how a hat should NOT be shipped! I paid for Priority Mail shipping. The seller wrapped the original 1950's Dobbs hat box in brown paper and then mailed it ground. Here's what I got two weeks later after it got lost in Indiana and then found.
I cleaned the hat and reshaped it. has a few moth bites but I am happy. Always wanted one of these "Westwards"

Westward looks great. I think sometimes on this thread we are unfair to eBay sellers. Their ignorance of the history and value of hats is easily understood and excused. However, shipping a hat in brown paper and tape is a stunning piece of foolishness!

I see that our pal Tim is at it again... With what looks like a fairly new, possibly brand new vintage Borsalino fedora. It's an absolute snip on eBay today at just $880, don't miss it! It even comes with it's modern barcoded $475 price tag.... Errr. Keep taking the pills Tim, you'll be fine.

I would have bid on it...... but I already have several hats with unreeded sweetbands that need repair. Might also be missing its liner.
He's a good seller and offers a refund of the extra shipping $$.

I was thinking of throwing out a bid as well, didn't think I had a chance with what I have in my hat fund...the sweat repair wasn't an issue, but that shipping amount was.
oh well. :(
If I had your skills Moe .... I would not be afraid of the un-reeded band either! ... but I don't.
That seller has some great hats. I've purchased a few. He is very nice to deal with.... and honest. Rare these days it seems
