Won an auction on four French hats - a COL, a Morreton and a couple of Flechet

Looking a little battered, but hopefully basically sound. Too good a price not to take the risk, especially when the seller is shipping the four for the cost of posting one:

I think they're late 40's/early 50's...

And here's my gripe; I often follow vintage hats on Ebay and if I bid say a max of $200 I always get out bid but a similar hat that I don't bid on goes for $50! I bid on average about once a week on something, haven't won a hat in 2 years. Starting to feel a little paranoid.

Thanks, Frank. Us pinheads tend to have better luck with the ending price but I have on many occasions paid big bucks for tiny treasures.

I cant understand why this other guy only upped his bid by a penny ? hell I put in a max amount of $60.00 but thank god I onlt had to pay one dollar above the asking price and it comes with FREE SHIPPING , now I ask you does it get any better than this :p

All the Best , Fashion Frank

P.S. Garrett you would be proud

Yep, well done! It appears to be a homburg but the crown popped back out. I'm sure a quick center dent and steam will have her looking new in no time.

Thanks Garrett.

You know I was wondering the same thing , is it really a derby or was the crown pushed out as some point.
I tried to assess that in looking at the pictures but could not discern it from the photos?

I might just keep it the way it is, will have to take a wait and see attitude till it arrives and go from there .
