Surely a modern stingy brim fedora (probably cotton or wool) previously owned/worn by an unidentified celebrity is worth at least $499!

Here is a seller that truly believes what P. T. Barnum said "there is a sucker born every minute". Or is it a fool and his money are soon parted.

I would venture to guess the seller is a used car saleman. FREE SHIPPING, an item of such prestiges should be delivered by an armored truck with heavy armed guards. LOL

Best regards

Hi Mayerswegener,
I talked with my wife who is from Venezuela and she says that the Guama is a hairy fruit that's about a foot long and has black seeds with blank skin on the inside. It appears they used this to describe the texture as I don't think hare is an animal that you find in Venezuela.

The price of 410 Bs or bolivares would probably place the hat some time earlier than 90's at a rough guess due to the value of the Bolivar at that time. In the 2000's 410 B's would have been pocket change (I changed at 500/dollar in 2002) and the money system changed to B's Fuertes a few years back.

I recently won this unusual Hückel Guama Somberero on a tip from Manfred. It's a tiny size so I didn't pay much for it (19,00 EURO including shipping). I am pretty sure this is an early TONAK Hückel that was made for the Venezuelan market. I found this regarding thee th Guama Somberero (poor Spanish translation).

("The hat 'pelo'e Inga' is not Venezuela," argues Torres. It turns out that one of the icons is Criollito venezonalidad the defunct Czechoslovakia. Mr. Torres has the hat in question is made from the skin of a hare
happens to be similar to the texture of the fruit Inga edulis, or better known as: the guama . I guess the name of the hare was so complicated that we appeal to the Venezuelan translate.)

Thanks! Yes I found the same info about the Guama fruit. I am pretty sure this hat is from the 1950s. There is no way it's later than very early 1960s. JHS and then TONAK (under the JHS brand) made these hats for the Venezuelan market. I have photos from the early 1900s showing JHS shipping crates destine for Venezuala.

If it really is a size 7 5/8 then it should fit. If I'm super lucky it will turn out to be a 7 5/8 xlo but that might be stretching my luck beyond all realms of possibility.
