Alex, that looks great! I agree with you about the brim, too-- distorts perfectly, and that crease is awesome. Great color, great ribbon and binding... just everything about it is classy. Nice find!

Thank you Bowlerman. That crease is really hard to keep in, as the felt is very light and soft. I may have to steam it. The brim distortion has lessened a tad, as when I found a union label and paper tag I also found quite a bit of folded tissue. Took it right out and the hat wears much better.

Okay, who got this lovely Knox Fifteen (velour?)?

I'll be curious to learn more about it (but clearly was too cheap to win it).

I won that hat. To be honest, I was surprised to find out I did. I thought it would have gone for much more. I really like the look of the hat but bid on it more out of curiosity because the fit is probably going to be too big. I normally wear a 7 3/8 LO or 7 1/2. So it might be back on the market after I have had time to check it out. My apologies to anybody I out bid.

Don't apologize. You won the hat fair and square. I was also surprised it didn't go higher. I think you got a pretty good deal on it.

Thanks. I think I got a great deal too! I'm just hoping it will fit.

Anybody have any idea of the age? Looks like the liner is missing but the sweatband and tag look to me to be 1960's era or maybe 50's.

I bid on that hat as well, but came up just short. With 40 mins remaining, I thought was good with a $75 max. Obviously, that wasn't the case. Nice hat, congrats to you!

My max was $80 and like I said earlier I really didn't expect to win it. If it had been a size smaller I would have bid a lot more. I occasionally buy hats that aren't in my size just because I'm curious and want to take a closer look at them. I usually end up selling them on Ebay or giving them to friends. Since this one seems to have generated a lot of interest, if it doesn't fit I'll list it in the classifieds here on the lounge.

We all have the same taste, Casechopper, I looked hard at that one and decided not to bid. I did have it in my watch list, but decided the brim was too narrow. Not sure I was right.

Edit: Forgive me, I was remiss in not congratulating you on what looks like a very nice hat. Enjoy it!

Hey Scooter, the measurements do seem a bit stingy but I like the bound brim and I've never handled a Lee before so it will be fun to get a look at it. For the price it didn't seem to big a risk and I think I can pass it on relatively easily if it doesn't work out for me.

No need to apologize... as long as you post pictures. But yeah, it's probably too big for you.

I recently won this unusual Hückel Guama Somberero on a tip from Manfred. It's a tiny size so I didn't pay much for it (19,00 EURO including shipping). I am pretty sure this is an early TONAK Hückel that was made for the Venezuelan market. I found this regarding the Guama Somberero (poor Spanish translation).

("The hat 'pelo'e Inga' is not Venezuela," argues Torres. It turns out that one of the icons is Criollito venezonalidad the defunct Czechoslovakia. Mr. Torres has the hat in question is made from the skin of a hare
happens to be similar to the texture of the fruit Inga edulis, or better known as: the guama . I guess the name of the hare was so complicated that we appeal to the Venezuelan translate.)
