I had worm omelette once. It was foul, but that served me right for using powdered egg.

One rule to remember is that people will eat anything if they're hungry enough. We're lucky enough to be insulated from that facet of life, but little Sparky's going to start looking mighty tasty when you're on day eight without food...

I was told that once on Manhattan's cable access channel, there was a cooking show in which the cook slaughtered & prepared a bird. I think it was a parrot.
When the next episode's tape was dropped off at the station, the police were waiting to arrest the cook. Cruelty to animals.

And yes, there have been NYC arrests of asian men in the park w/ nets catching pigeons for cooking.

On the flip side, a couple years ago a guy in HArlem was discovered to have a large pet tiger in his apartment.

They got the better end of the deal. We spend inordinate amounts of time and money serving them.

At least the cow feeds us after we take care of the cow.

The horse gives us a ride

The chicken gives us eggs.

The dog and cat sits and eats our food though provides no service other than a cuddle now and again... I say cuddle on the outside then let it warm your belly from the inside out.

So I was talking to a friend the other day (I'll let him mention his name if he likes) and he told me how he possily thwarted a cat eating.

Here's my question. I'm not against eating Horses... wouldn't eat a cat or a dog, though I'm not against banning people from doing such things.

Some countries allow dogs to be eaten

A few years back Californians voted away my ability to eat horse... Haven't tried horse though I voted to keep my right.

What's your take? are there animals (off the endangered species list) we shouldn't be allowed to eat or as the head of the food pyramid should we be welcome to treat our pallette to whatever we please?

While I don't like the idea of eating horse, that's not the reason I would vote against it. I read an article not long ago about privatly owned horses being stolen and killed for their meat. Can you imagine waking up and finding that your horse (which cost thousands of dollars and you probably have emotional attachment to) has been stolen, only to find out it was so it could be sold and then killed for the meat?!

Actually a lot of dogs work for a living.
Seeing-Eye, Guard, Attack, Bomb sniffing, drug sniffing, hunting and shepherding.

Abducted horse meat for humans or horse meat for dog food?

I hear that not so many horses are sold to glue factories anymore.

If the creature is a domesticated pet, I don't really agree with that, but if the animal was in the wild and hunted (veal, anyone?), or raised on a farm specifically for meat production, I think it is alright.

Now, if I were to ever see a Cat or Dog Farm, I'm sure I'd change my mind... :eusa_doh:

Now I am no vegitarian, but veal is the the one food I will not eat, due to the lifestyle the animals have to endure for some tender meat.

Though, I draw the line at animals that I am introduced to. My grandfather used to name the lobsters before throwing them in the steamer; don't name them, just throw them in! ;) lol
I knew a kid in high school who's family raised cows and took them to the county fair, then slaughtered them. One year I was helping him pack for a trip, and his mom was making us dinner. He asked "Hey mom, who are we having tonight?"
She looked at the package of meat she was holding and said "Crocker!"
They labeled the meat with the cow's name it had come from. Yuck.

I grew up eating a lot of animals that my Grandfather raised.I knew their names, went to visit them everyday and even played with some of the sheep & goats. We never thought it was weird or disgusting to eat them.I always felt a great deal of respect for these animals. Whether we are eating them, using them for work, or using parts of them as in wool, leather, milk, eggs it would behoove us to remember the source. However eating my cat or dog would be out of the question.

Is it the real turtle soup

or is it the mock? It was the horrible treatment of these creatures which led to the idea that it was also unkind to mistreat human children.
I've never eaten an insect unless it flew itno my mouth while I was on a motorcycle. I have eaten the contents of a dented can of cici beans, except for the slug that was in it, when I was hungry enough (last month). I would NEVER eat a pet but if I kick over and die and no one finds out, my 3 pugs are welcome to call me Marie Prevost and eat me to stay alive until help comes.
I'd hate to see the tail wagging as I went in for the lip-smacking kill...
I am very productive for the company I work for but I don't think anyone would put me on their menu.
