Dustbowl natural cxl

My Dustbowl in natural CXL arrived earlier today and I snapped some pictures that I wanted to share with you.

Can’t really write an essay about it since I’m typing on my iPad, but the short version is that I’m really happy with it.

I’m 181 cm, 82 kg. Went with a size 42 as per Holly’s recommendation. Added some sleeve length and a throat latch like on the original Hercules which turned out real nice I think. I’m happy with the fit. It allows for some layering without being too loose in my opinion. Went with the Mackenzie weathered tartan for the lining which I think complements the natural cxl nicely.

The natural cxl definitely is very unlike the natural veg tanned leathers that I’m used to. It’s a lot darker and almost sandy brown. It will be interesting to see how the color will evolve with time.

Compare to my Schott CX113, I think the color is very close. It will take some time to develop character, but if you make it your daily wearer and give it a lot of sun, it's going to reward you.

Looking good! I think I would have gone with the 40 if I was you, but you can definitely pull off the 42, too!

Thanks Bowen! Actually it just so happens I have vacation next week [emoji6]
Probably it will be too warm to wear it except for early mornings and late evenings though. I’m considering placing it on my balcony to let it get some sun when it’s too warm to wear it.

Looking good! I think I would have gone with the 40 if I was you, but you can definitely pull off the 42, too!

Thanks jj! I understand where you are coming from and I agree that a 40 would have worked as well. My 30’s half belt is a 40 and it’s also a good fit. However it is too tight to wear anything more than a T-shirt under it. With the dustbowl I wanted something that I could wear for more months in the year.

Thanks! As with any natural leather, the final judgment will have to wait til it’s been worn at least 6 months or so.

But I also really like this, and looking at pictures of aged natural cxl it certainly has potential [emoji6]

Hopefully Aero will add this to their standard range. I did not ask for a specific weight as this was a one-off jacket that they made from the last of the natural cxl they had left from a batch they ordered to try it out. But it does feel a little bit less stiff than my brown cxl jacket did when it was new, but I don’t think it’s thinner.

It looks very close indeed. And pictures of your Schott was actually one of the factors that made me want this leather.
