Oh woe.
I finally found a good hat at a good price in a vintage shop in town. A grey Borsalino of a certain age, somewhat beat, but not too badly, sort of a Stratoliner/Open Road style. It was only $20!!!!
Without even looking at the size I whacked the thing into a pleasing shape and put it on my head.
Everything went black.
I pushed the hat back a bit and looked in the mirror. I appeard to be wearing a felt barrel on my head.
I looked inside and it was size 7 3/4!!!
What a pumpking topper! My guess is the dude who sported this particular lid was known about town as Moose or Hoss or some such. (Maybe just Big Head.)
Now before those of you supporting plus sized models object, I have to say/specualte that the 7 3/4 was put through a serious stretching at some point because this hat was big, like, BIG.
