Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

Did anyone happen to watch "Edwardian House", a BBC "reality" television show about modern-day people living as Edwardians? I ask because the manor in Downtown Abby looks very much like the house they used for Edwardian House and I'm wondering if they are indeed the same.

This would seem very much like 'Manor House', a PBS 'reality' show with modern 'volunteers'rigorously living the roles of 'upstairs' and 'downstairs' for a period of time. It was very stressful for all concerned, surprisingly, even the faux aristocrats.

I cannot find 'Edwardian House' on Amazon.

Gosford Park and Downton Abbey are both written by Julian Fellowes.

I own 'Manor House' the DVD. I cannot view the video posted by A. C. Lyles so I am supposing it is the same series, having two names. Manor House = Edwardian House, then.

If it is not, I want it.

Anyhoo, it gives some depth to watching these dramas like Downton Abbey or Gosford Park, to have seen the real life sweat and toil of all concerned and a sobering context for the time travel we occasionally indulge as a fantasy.

We toured a local Victorian home several years ago, and it was honestly the best tour I've ever been on. They had sections from diaries that they used to tell about the people who lived in the home and their stories. My husband and I couldn't decide who's lives were worse- the servants or the homeowners. The only advantage that the homeowners had is that they had money, but that didn't mean that they had necessarily more "free will."

Oh yes definitely! I've always been fascinated by this era and the series is beautifully done.

Season 2 is just now broadcasting in our market. Saw the first 2-hour episode last night. Few other shows have so much made me want to just stay in their moment. That actress who plays the earl's sister is well cast; she even looks a bit like Maggie Smith.

Alright, what's Lavinia Swire's big secret? Why was she so quick to correct her 'acquaintance' with Mary's new creepy Rupert Murdoch wannabe suitor, after he described her as a 'friend'? And what were they talking about outside, in conspiratorial tones, when the Earl's sister encountered them? The declining quality of foie gras since the War?
