I have just bought a Banjo Patersson. That hat is just a little to big for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to downsize it a little.
The tag inside says that the hat wont shrink but the sweatband will.
Hi Peter,
someone said that for shrink an hat is good to spray a few water into the sweatband, and/or on the felt, and then leave it under a light spot (a lamp) for few minutes or so.
Doing so the sweatband shrink a few,and the felt too, but be careful don't to burn the hat.
Anyway, I advice you to wait any other ,more expert, member!
Hi Peter, I also have the Banjo Paterson, It's a nice Hat.
If you only have to adjust it a little then put some tape or foam behind the sweatband until it feels right, The sweat will tighten up in time with wear and the tape or foam can be removed or adjusted. If you shrink down the Hat with heat it could get too tight and you may not like it that way.
I have accidentally shrunken hats by leaving them in a hot car on a sunny day. But I prefer the padding method; a folded paper towel works well b/c you can make adjsutements by varying the number of folds.
