Does my aero cossack look okay?

Does the cut of the jacket look okay on me? I was a bit concerned at the length, will probably have to tuck my t-shirts in. At first it felt a bit tight, then I loosened the halfbelt and it was a bit better. It feels a bit uncomfortable when I lift my arms - the side of the jacket lifts up. Does this change as the jacket gets worn in?

"For me"...I would want a couple more inches in sleeve length..as well as body length. That alone would make it feel too small 'to me'.

I was also thinking of increasing body length. Is this possible for Aero to do, do you think? I guess I should message Amanda but will probably get a reply on Monday.

Chest size looks ok and it will relax more when it's broken in. Unfortunately, the sleeves and body length do look a bit too short to my eye and gives the jacket the look that it might be a size too small. I doubt if it would be possible to lengthen the body and sleeves, better to contact Amanda and see if they would take it back and make you a new one. It is a real disappointment when you wait a long time for a custom made jacket and the fit is not quite right, but better to get it sorted now while it's still new.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Okay I messaged Amanda. Will let you guys know how it goes. It sucks though because I really love the quality of the leather and the minimalist look of it.

Jimbo, just out of curiosity (especially since I just ordered an Aero, although a different model) what measurements did you provide them? Also, is that a Heavy Front Quarter Horsehide? I understand that they take time to break in, but the jacket does look a bit small.

I must say, otherwise though that is a fantastic looking jacket. The leather looks great. Yes I'd say one size to small.

Height - 5 feet 5.5 inches
Chest relaxed - 38 inches
Chest expanded (breathe in) - 39 inches
Waist - 32 inches
Stomach - 32 inches
Sleeve - 28 inches
Shoulder measurement (top of back, seam to seam) - 17 inches

I tried the jacket on today and I think the sleeves are a bit better (borderline). It was just really stiff. I think the only thing wrong is the armpit area. When I life my arm up the jacket lifts off too much on one side.

The other issue is the length of the jacket. Too high. Do you think one alternative would be to get a bit of fabric at the bottom of the jacket to increase the length. Like in the jacket below:

On that style jacket I prefer the sleeves to just touch or extend slightly beyond the knuckle of my thumb. Body is slight too short too but can't tell for sure with your shirt untucked.

Overall, agreed with another poster that the jacket is cut too short and perhaps too tight.

Jimbo, really like the Aero Cossack.. sleek, clean look.. the leather looks awesome but have to agree that it looks too short for my taste.. So you provided Aero with a sleeve length of 28" and it's still short? man, you got some long arms...

Hoosier, I'm confused, if your shirt sleeve is 34.5" are you saying you go with a shorter jacket sleeve of 26 1/4"?

My shirt sleeve measures 24.5" and Amanda recommended that I go with that length for my Hercules FQHH. What do you think? I'm 5'7" .

I'm 5'10 with a measured 49 inch chest and 36 inch waist, these type of cuts simply don't typically work on dudes with a shorter and stockier build, just the way it is, they work with guys who are tall and lean, or short and slight, just the way it is.

I wore a similar jacket for a bit but just had to face facts that it just didn't fit my body type, I would look for a different cut that suits your body type a little better like a Highwayman. If you do want to go with the half belt cut definitely size up all around, the length and sleeves are too short IMO.

A 'shirt' sleeve measurement is measured from the middle of the back of your neck..across your shoulder to the end of where you want your sleeve to stop. Thus you will see shirts labeled...15 1/2" neck with 33-34" sleeve length on the package
Leather 'jackets' are measured from shoulder seam to the end of cuff. Thus..a stock sized 40 Aero jacket most generally has a 24-25" sleeve length.
I wear a size 40 Aero...but since I'm tall with longer arms than 'standard'..I prefer a 26 1/4 sleeve. Body length on a stock size 40 Aero is around 25"...but I add 1 1/2" to make it 26 1/2" in body length.
For me a normal 'shirtsleeve' length usually ends right at wrist. I like a jacket sleeve to be a little longer.
I hope that I am not confusing you more.

@Hoosier: thanks that was very helpful. I think I will go back to my tailor and have measure from shoulder to just above my thumb knuckle.
