He wasn't bashing the dress but the perception of the profession.

Let those who are offended speak for themselves. LoliataHaze took the comments with her usual humor and grace. 'Nuff said in my book.

I too am a Burlesque stripper... and I will totally admit I have "Daddy issues" -- I don't have nearly enough of them! lol
:eusa_clap lol

Just a little addition, if I had a body like Dita Von Teese and people were willing to pay me the kind of money she sees to do what she does, issues or not, I'd be doing it.

I got nothing against Von Teese, any girl that drives a New Yorker is good by me, but I'm always amused that apparently "burlesque" is a classier word for "stripper". "Oh no, I don't strip, I'm a burlesque dancer"

Yeah but you take off clothes for money

"Yes but"

and probably have bad daddy issues

But she's got a gimmick so hollywood latched onto her like a leech and now she's rich.

Better to latch onto an interesting, different image like Dita's than some idiotic, vacuous thing like Jessica Simpson. and if I had Dita's body and her sense of style, I'd do it too!

And there IS a difference in style between burlesque and modern-day stripping...note the word "style" that keeps cropping up here.....ever see the bored looks on the faces of modern day strippers and the smiles on the faces of burlesque dancers? I could go on all day.

But, to each his own.

I am probably the most conservative Christian person on the FL but just want to say I knew this lady as a child and she was one of the sweetest I ever met. That husband she shot who lived was also the most gorgeous man I ever laid eyes on. I was about 9 and remember. I have always thought of her as a burlesque dancer.
Noone knows what happens along the way and I am not in any way saying stripping is ok. Things somehow snowball in life also.
Not sure what I am beating around here but I like seeing Lolita's photos and still think the one with her looking into the vanity is the best one of her.
Everyone deserves validation and respect.
I also think she is funny.

Dita turned down a lucrative career in porn to have a lucrative career in Burlesque, which appears to be the correct decision. I find her style and look to be more than appealing, and I count myself a fan.

Dita's marriage to MM was by no means an anomaly; both being extremely savvy and talented show business people each taken on their own. Their own acts are not really that different; MM uses a lot of the same ideas that burlesque uses, though in a different arena.

As far as the breakup with MM, it's really quite ordinary.

MM's heavy drinking and his infidelities were the primary cause of the breakup, which is pretty mundane, when you consider it. Of course, there is always two sides to every story and the whole story should and probably will remain their personal business.

Sometimes I cannot resist the gossip mags, then to my horror I find Dita might have a new fella!!!

None other than Russell Brand, now I love his podcasts, but dating Dita.

He told the Sun recently: “I saw Dita Von Teese at the Chateau Marmont Hotel.”

“At the risk of looking incontinent, I walked past her several times to the toilet to get her attention. Eventually she saw me and we started chatting.

I was saying some brilliantly funny things, slowly tempting her into my web.”

“I was thinking to myself, ‘You like Marilyn Manson? You like weirdos? I’ll give you weirdos. Androgynous freaks is it?’

It was going well and she goes, ‘Would you like my number? Call me any time you are bored’.”

“I said, ‘I wouldn’t have to be bored to ring you, darling’.”

“Later I texted her, ‘Oddly, now I feel perpetually bored. Everything seems pale having met you’. She replied, ‘You have a way with words’. So it’s all going well.”

I love Dita, I met her in January and she was really sweet, and gracious (and stunning, her skin is amazing). She's gaining popularity in Britain, I remember a few years back there were some scathing comments about her in The Mirror (a paper which I only read at my grandparents' house) because they didn't know who she was, and now they love her!

On her website, if you join (which I have), she has tons more photos of her home. I think that actually might be her old home before the split with MM.
