Miss Queenie posted the following in a Powder Room thread entitled "DITA VON TEESE":

Excuse me, lads, but nose out.

If you want to start your own, general thread on Dita, please do so in another room. I am getting awfully tired of men putting their noses in here with us girls, I tell you what.

Oh, and let's try to keep this PG or PG-13...some of our readers may be under age and we wouldn't want to violate our "family friendly" policy!

As far as miss Dita goes, I think she's lovely. I only wish I knew where she got her hats! Does anyone know if those darlings are vintage, new, or some of both?

Fair enough. Here, then, is a thread on Dita Von Teese (Heather Sweet) where men can post PG or PG-13 comments and questions.

Can chicks join in over here too? I think I may enjoy the exchange more so with the men than with the ladies (Nothing against the ladies of course).

Having just deleted such a start today... this will be very closely watched.

As it should be. PG and PG-13, please. Focus on her hats or nail polish or something.

I see Dita as a pioneer in the revival of retro sensuality. She took something that was not seen as "art" in its time and has raised it to that level.

Dita and others like her have rescued the Golden Era from being sanitized to blankness.

In general yes....it's poor form.

We girls get -one- sub-forum. You gents have hats, suits, etc.

We have one place to talk about girl things freely and without feeling embarassed to be asking about how a girdle should fit around our stomach...etc...

Is it too much to have that one subforum remain free of men who tend to turn every similar topic into 'Oh man, stockings are hot! Wish my gf/wife/bf would wear them!" or worse.

Would you walk into the Ladies Powder Room at a movie?

Dita's a doll, sure . . .

and I appreciate her role as 'a pioneer in the revival of retro sensuality,' as Marc says. But I'm gonna go :eek:fftopic: and put in my number one vote for Lolita Haze. She's gorgeous and I'll always support a fellow Lounge member first.

Go Lolita!

Dita needs to learn about the better brands of absinthe that are out there, rather than the swill that her, and her "significant other" are always flashing for the photographers.:eusa_doh:

What kind does she drink?

I always thought the idea of absinthe was a lot more romantic than the actual drink. I am not a drinker of anykind (well, alcohol, anyway lol) and from what I hear absinthe taste like lighter fluid, so you can imagine I am not in a rush to try it. Even if I was, it is illegal here in the States so you can't get a pure form of it. I suppose I could do to absinthe what I do with martini's. I drink sprite from a martini glass with a cherry instead of an olive... I could always put sprite in an absinthe glass and add food coloring! Lolita = dork

No thanks necesaary Lolita - from what I've read in your posts, you have a lovely personality to match your looks, so we're the richer for having you here. As for awards, if these blasted home renovations left me any money, I'd send you a huge crate of sprite for your mock-tinis! lol

Benny... You are too nice to me! :) But, don't forget the cherries! ;)

Feruad... Personally, I don't mind the men poking their noses in the powder room. Even though it is ladies only we still can't post anything that is remotely adult. Which is fine, I understand the rules of this board and I am not going to break them, but it is silly to think that by the men not posting in the powder room that makes it "safe" for ladies' discussion, I mean just because you are not posting... doesn't mean you are not reading.

I know I know... :eek:fftopic: Let's get back to Dita...

Maybe some of us would prefer to not imagine the men reading our threads in a less then polite manner...call it head in the sand or whatever...but not all of us like the thought of them reading it either....so would prefer not to be reminded that they are, by their comments in our threads.

Your milage may vary.

If the rules are no men allowed in the powder room, I can live with it. I was just looking for further clarification because I have read men's posts in there before and no one asked them to butt out.

I assume the positive comments Dita received struck a nerve with people.

I am one to always follow the rules, so I won't be putting my nose in there anymore. :)

If the fellas are not to be trusted then we should be locked out. Case closed. No offense taken.

That is understandable. And that is why I am not trying to petition with a "Let them Stay" chant. I just want the men to know that not all of us feel that way. In fact, I quite enjoy reading the "manly" posts about hats, fashion and other subjects, not geared towards the females, because I enjoy learning, so I just assume the men feel the same way. In the end it just comes down to this, I enjoy coming here to read and socialize... there may be some rules that I don't agree with, but I am fine with them -- if I wasn't, I could leave. Please note that I am not trying to come off defensive or argumenative here. I just do not know how to properly word myself. So please do not take this post as being rude.
