Disney Hat

I think I remember a post somewhere that mentioned an interest in a Disney hat. I just ran across one on eBay at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2998&item=8113441491&rd=1 if anyone is interested. The condition doesn't appear to be new and looks to be a small size but it is all there to work with. No size is mentioned. I hope this helps someone.
Who made Disney anyway? :cool2:

Regards to all,

If I recall correctly, The_Edge has a Disney fedora, and from pictures he showed of it, it is a beautiful, and well made hat.

There are two versions......that I know of. A wool hat and a fur felt one. The wool is not very good.....and that is being kind. In fact....the wool Indy helped me sell my Indy hats on E-Bay:

I sold both my PBs for more than I paid for them.

There's an older (30s-40s) brand of hats named Disney that aren't related to Walt. Maybe Kyle can show his, as it's a beautiful grey. I think Andykev has one too.

Yeah, there was an old school hatter named Disney. I had one of their hats which was too small for me which I recently sold. It was a pretty nice felt, though, and I've been trying to grab myself a more wearable version. I just paid for that Ambassador Hotel fedora, which is marked as being a Disney Twenty-Five. I'll report more when it arrives.

I think Disney hats were supposed to be some of the nicer vintage hats, but they're not all that common.

Now I remember the post came from you. :D I should have remembered better. I wonder if this one is Ambassador Hotel marked as well.

James, the Disney Hat Co. was a very good manufacturer. I have had a number of them and the felt quality was excellent on every one. They seemed to be styled for the younger man and i believe they went after the college crowd with cool colors and different ribbon combination. Unfortunately, now defunct. (

Sorry, I DON'T have a Disney. Wish I did. They are good hats.

Well you guys, I finally got my hands on a Disney. I have been looking at getting a Disney for quite some time. I had heard that the felt is really good.

Firstly let me show you the photo from the listing of the "Porkpie" ;)

Ahh!

Pretty bland... (to the naked eye)

Now, take this home, steam and brush it, get rid of the feather and hey presto:

Isn't it great when we can spot an opportunity beyond a bad listing! Look at the diffence in coolness between image one and the rest. We are lucky to have that information.

Now, questions:

When does this hat date from (price tag states $15)

Can anyone elaborate on Art's point about these lids being aimed at the younger market?

Thoughts...?

Which color is more accurate? Just curious.
