Well folks, after much deliberation on what my next leather shall be I have fired off $663 Oz dollars to Schotts for their natty looking 660 Cafe racer.
I have been umming and awing over which jacket for the last month and was torn between the 662 or shelling out big time on some type of Aeroleather. The 662 appeared to be a fairly odd fit for a man of my height and build (6'3 44inch chest and 100kg) so that ruled that one out. Next up was an Aeroleather. Beautiful jackets and made in Scotland which is the motherland to me so I am proud to read what a great product they have. For the $1000+ outlay tho and these reasons l will put it on the back burner till I am home next year and I will scoot down from Edinburgh order a tailor made one.
So that left the 660. According to a few of the guys on here Schotts can be a bit neat in their cutting of jackets so I contacted Jerri(?) from Schotts who were very promped and helpfull and provided me with the exact measurements for the 660 and it looks like the XL is a good fit and the chap for me!! It should be here next week so when it arrives I will give you guys a review and a photo or two.
Next up is a pair of Redwing 9011 Beckman boots. I tell you what, you Americans are spoiled for quality apparel over there!

regards Flashy

Is Schott making a longer sleeve length for you..?

No HD but Jerri from Schotts Cust service sent me the dimentions for the jacket and the 26.12 sleeve length is just right for me. A mate of mine has a cafe racer jacket (not Schotts) which has the same sleeve length and cross shoulder measurement and it fitted me perfectly so I'm hoping it will be the same case with this jacket.

What are your concerns mate?

great looking jacket!

i'd love a longer cafe racer myself... had schott 141 and 641s but their sleeves a tad short for me and shoulders a tad wide. may look out for a brimaco or insurrection brimaco-replica.

redwing beckman's really nice. i ended up getting wolverine 1000miles instead because of how much i fell in love with tthe horween leather that was used in my aero. have some redwing chukas that are fantastic.

Here's hoping jksu.
Schotts seem to have a bit of a reputation for short armed jackets and this has been the main cause of me holding off buying one but having measured myself numerous times hand having the measurements checked by my wife (a keen clothes makes) so I am fairy sure it will fit. I think the danger with forums is over thinking/reading an item/purchase rather than taking your chances with what you know. The jacket should be hear early next week so i will post back then with my findings.

I've had a look at your Wolverine 1000miles also but they seem to be much more expensive than the Redwings. Any idea where I can maybe get either brand on line?

Schott's sleeves seem to be long enough to me. Most of the jackets I have asked Jerri about have had a 27 inch sleeve. A tad too long for me. But what I have found is that most of the standard biker Schotts do not look right on taller guys - over 5 feet 11 or 180 cm. At 6 ft 2, I have always been advised to get their long sized cafe racer. How long is the back of the 660?

Hi Seb,
The 660 has a 28 inch back on it. On the website they make a bit of a thing of mentioning the length of is and that was what attracted me. Like I said earlier in the thread, a mate has a Cafe Racer of similar dimentions and this includes a 28 inch back. this sits just above my jean pockets so I am happy with this.
Has your Vanison(?) C/R arrived yet?

got my wolverine 1000mile on eBay new for $220 us shipped. actually lower priced than I could find redding beckmans.

not sure how much it'd be to ship to Australia.

definitely my favorite shoe/boot right now. added a vibram front rubber sole for durability.

Redwing Beckmans are cool but bear in mind they are D-sized (ie. narrower than E) so won't suit all feet types. I had to get rid of another pair of RW's that I bought that were D-sized and I don't have particularly large or wide feet.

28 inches is great. Yep my Insurrection made Brimaco style cafe racer came. 27 inch back, slim cut. Nice tough cowhide. Two of my favourite cafe racers are the Brooks (two chest pocket model) and the Brimaco. Both cut long.
