December 13 Martial law on in Poland

yesterday I had anniversary of the imposition of martial law in my country, you know something about this? heard about it

Did a little research. You're talking about 1983. Oh, yes, the world was aware of what was happening in Poland. It's what ultimately lead to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Very historic times indeed.

1981, was a big frost, as now, the army, militia, tanks on the streets,a lot of people were killed and arrested, bad time, I remember it like today , look into the gallery, remains only in Polish unfortunately

It happened in Canada, too. In October of 1970 PM Pierre Trudeau invoked the War Measures Act which initiated martial law, in response to the FLQ crisis. The FLQ was a terrorist group of Quebec Separatists. Some of whom, if I recall correctly, went on to careers in politics.

The FLQ murdered a Quebec Provincial Cabinet Minister (strangled him with his rosary), kidnapped a British diplomat and misbehaved, generally.

Oh, you know..... us sweet, gentle and peaceful Canadians....
