I'm in San Diego this week visiting family and friends. What a shock, turning on the local news and hearing local football hero Junior Seau had killed himself.

What's really creepy is that several of Junior Seau's teammates from the 1994 Chargers also died young.

Lew Bush, 42 (heart attack, 2011)
Shawn Lee, 44 (heart attack, 2011)
Chris Mims, 38 (heart disease, 2008)
Curtis Whitley, 39 (drug overdose, 2008)
Doug Miller, 28 (struck by lightning, 1998)
Rodney Culver, 26 (plane crash, 1996)
David Griggs, 28 (car accident, 1995)

Very sad. My wife mentioned Adam's illness a while back and we've been wondering how he's been.

My wife and I (we were dating at the time) saw The Beastie Boys at The Ritz in NYC when they released License to Ill. The record had gone mainstream in a big way and I'll never forget how crowded the place was! It's a wonder no one was crushed.
It was Amazing, Fabulous, Awesome!!

The Massachusetts State Police announced on Monday the passing of retired state trooper Staff Sgt. Richard J. Clemens Jr. in New York State, where he lived for many years in his retirement.

Clemens, who retired in 1975, remains one of the most recognizable figures in the history of the state police. In 1958, he was the state trooper depicted in the 1958 Norman Rockwell portrait titled “The Runaway.”
