Mick Jagger's tribute is prehaps the best epitaph we're gonna see;

"I am so sad to hear of Chuck Berry's passing. I want to thank him for all the inspirational music he gave to us. He lit up our teenage years, and blew life into our dreams of being musicians and performers.
His lyrics shone above others & threw a strange light on the American dream. Chuck you were amazing & your music is engraved inside us forever."

And a couple of great Chuck moments..:D

I met Chuck Berry in a NYC steakhouse in the early '90s as he was at a table with several people and a guy at our table (it was a business dinner) knew a guy at Chuck's table and - after a few minutes - I was brought over and introduced.

Chuck was dressed in a powder blue, kinda, cowboy suit with a bolo tie - stood out a bit in a crowd of basic grey business suits. But what really stood out were the two pretty, in a notice-me way, blondes flanking him.

He said hello and shook my hand, but without enthusiasm, so I thanked him, told him I enjoyed his music and left him alone (even though I was invited over, I'm sure he just wanted to be left alone without fans, etc.).

For those (like me) who love his music and want a fix today, see if you can find / stream a copy of "Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll" a late '80s documentary on Chuck that Keith Richards put together - the music is incredible as are the insights into Chuck.
