Hello,
I am a new member. I live in southern NH and I enjoy the values and the style that was this era. I think pinups are the sexiest woman going. I’m looking to see if there is any woman who shares my old school values that would be interested in a long term relationship. I am a romantic hoping for the best! I thought this might be the best place to post this as everything gets talked about in the powder room.
Thank you for your time and hope to hear something,
Abe

Welcome to The Fedora Lounge, Abe! I hope you find the one who you are looking for. I know a many folks here have met others, but that was closer to 10-15 years ago. Not sure how it's looking today. I think elaborating on your definition of old school values might help.

Abe, as a longtime lounger, I feel compelled by brotherly spirit to warn you that the ladies around here are extremely discerning, are armed with devastating wit, and are erudite beyond belief. I have been humbled more than once.

Thank you for the support!

I meant:
Honesty
Wit
Creativity
Resourcefulness
Honor
Mutual Respect
I would also add to what I think the eras definition would be:
Open communication
Team player

does that help?

You should have plenty of luck then... even outside of the Lounge. These are normal qualities in any decent person and not just limited to the vintage crowd.

Welcome to FL! Those are all qualities we all look for in a mate, whether vintage lifestyle or modern lifestyle. A good person is a good person, no matter what they wear. That's a relief! Sometimes men will say "old school values" as a euphemism for a submissive woman who is willing to be subjugated by a domineering husband.

I agree. I figured that I could find someone who likes the vintage things I like, it’s a long shot, but here’s hopin and wishin. I hope to find someone either way. Start sharing and enjoying life together! I would like to find a true connection. I appreciate any help.
Thank you,
Abe

Just keep posting everywhere in the lounge talking about your vintage interests. It'll take more postings than just a "Looking for Love" thread in the Ladies Room for the gals here to take notice, after all this is a community site for like interests individuals not one specifically for dating. Good luck, Sir!

That is a good point. I don’t mean it like that. I like being told what to do sometimes. A dictatorship is not the answer. I would go with modified democracy, everyone gets informed and is heard, then it is up to the parents to tackle the issue. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, but together they can then make a strong decision. Kids are kids and they need to be taught not coddled or hovered over, no one can learn anything in that environment. Adults are adults, not friends or peers of the children. Being adults and making the hard decisions and creating appropriate structure is how the children learn to become contributing members of society and good parents.

It is the adults job to make and follow through with the tough stuff. Someone has to be the bad guy. Everything can’t be awesome or fun all the time. Difficult decisions need to be made and enforced. Now I think that children can partake in the making of their rules (touching on this part a little) because that creates buy in and they also know they are heard and someone cares. They are more likely to follow the rules they helped make and if they do break it it is easier to say, “hey you knew, because you helped make the rule” there is no excuse at that point.

That’s why I would like to say values not roles. Because I totally agree that that is what one would think about the era a submissive woman. I like a team and like I said one person can’t make and enforce all the decisions. I follow directions well. I don’t like being in charge all the time. Either one should have the ability to step up and be supported.

Hey Abe! You should go to Viva in Las Vegas. They have every year a pin up/rockabilly convention. Maybe you would find someone there. Or maybe a car show? You should search different vintage conventions. There might be a dating site for pin ups.
