I'm looking for vintage-y shoes that not have a heel higher than 1 inch. I'm not allowed to be taller than my husband. I 've looked on different shoe site but I'm not sure if low heel shoes or flat are very vintage-y. Any suggestions be wonderful.

Good thing that rule doesn't apply to me. I am 6' tall and my hubby is 6'2". While its hard for me to end up taller than he is, it has happened on occasion. It was a different story with the guys I dated before getting married, often they were a few inches shorter than I was before the heels lol

I'm a tall gal too and I get so disappointed when every "vintagey" shoe has at least a 3 inch heel! I don't worry so much about being taller than my husband, as much as I worry about falling on my face

Remix Vintage Shoe Review: BOULEVARD

I just got the Boulevard style shoe from Remix a few weeks ago and wanted to write a review on them since there have been so many questions and talk as to the comfort of Remix Shoes. I've been eyeing these shoes for a little over a year and when they went on sale (30% off, they still are on sale if anyone is interested) I decided to take a chance on them.

The Boulevard design has to be one of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn. The suede is absolutely soft and it fits wonderfully on my feet. I've always had issues with heels because I have falling arches, but when I walk around the city (I always walk everywhere) I don't even think of the shoes on my feet (except for puddles, since they are suede). It has gotten to the point where I will choose to wear the Remix Shoes over my flats because they are that comfy on my feet.

I have heard bad things about the quality/comfort of Remix's leathers, but I think that as long as you stick to their suede styles, you are OK.

One thing to note is that I did have to go a half a size down for the perfect fit. I'm normally an 8.5 and had to exchange the shoes for an 8. If anyone else has any comments on this style or any of the other suede styles from Remix, I would love to hear them. The next pair I'm thinking of buying from Remix is the Gramercy Style, but that will have to wait for next year!

Thanks for posting this -- I've had my eye on these for a long time, but was never quite sure if they'd be up to the kind of wear I give shoes. If I can ever afford to buy shoes again, these are at the top of my list.

One followup question -- did these need much break-in time. I know with the Remix babydolls, it took a couple weeks to really work the stiffness out of the soles and make them comfy -- any such issues with these?

Break-in time & Water-proofing

No, I found that these were comfortable from the get-go. I do have to say that the first two times I wore them, I had on pantyhose, so perhaps I didn't feel anything due to that. In general, I felt that there was no break-in time.

I walk around the city all day and have yet to find an issue with these shoes. If anything my feet are little tired at the end of the day, but no pains or rubbing.

I have yet to waterproof them and am a little worried of darkening or damaging of suede with the spray. Has anyone had a good experience with a specific waterproof spray for suede?

Lovely shoes you got there, thanks for posting this! I'm always really leery of buying shoes online for this reason. There's so much that can go wrong with shoe fit, not to mention comfort, that it can be a hassle having to send things back, etc.

And those Gramercy shoes! ::swoons:: I just bought a vintage pair very similar in style to those, but that colour and... is that crocodile? I might have to start saving up for buying myself a birthday gift

I have found that my newer Remix leather wedges have been super soft and needed no break-in time either. However, I have an older pair of leather wedges that are not as soft and flexible as my newer pairs, so I wouldn't be surprised if they changed their materials. I did recently buy a pair of the suede Gloria wedges, and they feel like butter, so I second the suede recommendation.

I am so glad I splurged on them--they look exactly like a vintage pair of mine that were starting to show some wear, and they go with so many outfits. I would say they are a very practical choice, though I doubt you need any convincing.

Those Boulevard shoes are too cute. I think they have a store in Hollywood so I might take a trip over there next weekend to try them on. I have very narrow, flat feet, so I always have to try things on. I have the Capri wedges though and I just love them. People often think they are actually vintage too.

I'm so glad Remix makes shoes that are actually comfortable for ladies with flat feet (and stylish too!). Makes my life so much easier!
